PG/SG Amedeo Della Valle (AX Armani Exchange Milano - Italy)

I don't mind ADV's departure at all. He was a role player for this team, and it was unclear if he was ever going to be more than that at OSU. He's going to get a chance to make a lot of money working in his home country. He stuck with OSU for 2 years and was always very positive. Good luck to him.

yea wasn't just that game he didn't get PT. No one can hit a shot outside the paint yet the only guy who can hardly gets PT. Good logic Thad.
and yes going home has something to do with it but never playing on a crappy offensive team sure didn't help I am sure.

You totally need to find Matta's email and tell him your insights. I'm sure he'll listen. :roll1:

Good for ADV, but one question. Does his leaving in the middles of the semester negatively impact the APR?

Dispatch said a couple of days ago that if both ADV/LQR leave, it would cost APR points, but not enough to dock scholarships next year:

“We’d be protected because (the average) is a far cry” from 2009, Bruno said. “They are above 930, so there should not be any issue. We would, however, lose valuable APR points” for this school year.

Where are they now? Issue 1: Amedeo Della Valle

The mop-topped fan favorite and former student-body presidential candidate went pro after the 2013-2014 season. What’s he up to these days?

Della Valle, a 6-foot-5 combo guard from Alba, Italy, signed with Thad Matta’s Buckeyes on May 1, 2012. He was the only member of Ohio State’s 2012 recruiting class, and was classified as a three-star recruit according to 247Sports.

Della Valle moved from Italy to Las Vegas before his senior year of high school, playing his final year of high school basketball at Findlay Prep. He set the school’s single-season record for 3-pointers that season with 66. Aside from Ohio State, six other schools also showed interest in him, including Michigan, Gonzaga, Arizona, and UCLA.

In his freshman season of 2012-2013, Della Valle played 7.2 minutes per game, appearing in 15 games total. He averaged 2.5 points per game to go along with 1.5 rebounds and also shot 38.5% from 3-point range. Ohio State’s 2012 team included guards Aaron Craft, Lenzelle Smith Jr., and Shannon Scott, making playing time tough to come by for the youthful, floppy-haired freshman. The Buckeyes would finish the season 29-8, losing to Wichita State in the Elite Eight.

During his sophomore year, Della Valle played in 33 of Ohio State’s 35 games, coming off the bench in all 33 of them. His minutes increased to 11.9 per game, and his scoring output jumped to four points per game. Despite the increase in playing time, his three-point percentage dropped to a paltry 32.4%.

One of Della Valle’s best performances as a Buckeye came on March 14, 2014 against Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament. Down 18 with just under 14 minutes to play, Thad Matta pulled the “Italian Stallion” off the bench. Della Valle responded by chipping in nine points over the final 14 minutes, finishing with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in Ohio State’s 71-67 win over the Huskers.

ALL THE WAY FROM ITALY. My brick-brained self erroneously thought Aaron Craft was the only former basketbuck in Italy during the coronavirus outbreak over there, but I was very wrong.

I must offer my sincerest apologies to Amedeo Della Valle – the finest Italian three-point specialist in Buckeye history and the rightful 2014-15 USG President (count the votes correctly, cowards).

The good news is, he's healthy and well, and he's got some experiences to share.

Props to the interviewer for properly addressing him as "an Ohio State legend." You're damn right he is.
