Women's basketball: Prahalis keeps player of year award at Ohio State
By Jim Massie
The Columbus Dispatch Tuesday February 28, 2012
Samantha Prahalis kept the Big Ten women?s basketball player of the year award in the Ohio State family yesterday when she was honored in votes by the conference coaches and media.
The Buckeyes have won or shared the award for eight consecutive seasons. Jantel Lavender won a record four times before this season, and Jessica Davenport won the three awards prior to Lavender.
?I?m very happy,? Prahalis said. ?I?m very appreciative to the voters, and I just want to thank my teammates for having faith in me and believing in me and for giving me the ball. I also want to thank my coaches for being behind me.?

I am somewhat surprised that you speak so highly of her. Most opponent's fans do not appreciate her at all. While I agree with most of your points, Sammy can sometimes have little tirades that do not benefit her teammates and she has been taken to task by a number of game officials.knapplc;2117742; said:Well-deserved honor. She played her heart out Sunday, and it was clear she was the driving force on the team. You guys have several talented players, but none matched her drive - at least in the one game I saw.
She's got a deadly shot, she's quick with the ball, she's a harassing defender and she makes good decisions on the fly.

However, she has given her heart and soul to our women's program for 4 years and the honor is well deserved.
