PG Mike Conley (1st Team All BIG, NBA All-Star, Oscar Winner, Minnesota Timberwolves)

Being from Indiana, and witnessing seeing Conley and Oden play for 3 years at Lawrence North, I can tell you one thing: Whatever Greg does, Conley is VERY LIKELY to follow. It has always worked that way with these two. So with Greg looking like he's headed to the league, I would be shocked if Conley decided to stay at OSU. I wouldn't be surprised if Conley and Oden tried to work out some deal to get on the same NBA team. Good thing you guys have another great recruiting class coming in.

Well according to WBNS, no one is gone yet: http://www.wbns10tv.com/?sec=&story=sites/10tv/content/pool/200704/2011729974.html

"These are the facts, Greg has not talked to his mom about this yet," Mike Conley, Sr. told 10TV. "I am scheduled to talk to Greg this weekend about it."
Conley also told 10TV that Ohio State basketball coach Thad Matta is scheduled, "to talk to Greg and the boys about it at the top of next week, and after that the boys are going to make a decision about what route they are going to go."

Watching their non-verbal interaction during one of the post-game interviews during the tournament (after the Georgetown game?), it looks like Conley is the one who runs the show between them...

Maybe that is one thing that makes him a phenomenal PG, his ability to lead.

I always figured that they didn't grow'em too smart on the other side of Ohio's western border, so I'd like to thank you for confirming my impressions.

Oden and Conley to work out some type of a deal? What are you, 12? This isn't Little League baseball where you draft a brother in the first round and get the other in the second. I can hear Stern now:
"With the first pick of the 2007 NBA Draft, The Boston Celtics select, from THE Ohio State University, center Greg Oden. Oh and by the way, since they want to play together, the league has agreed to assign Mike Conley, Jr. to the Celtics as a bonus."

An outstanding NCAA Tournament helped Mike Conley Jr. shoot up the NBA draft charts

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Because of his postseason performance, Mike Conley Jr. has a decision to make. Stay ...
  • Growth fund -- experience as a leader
  • Percentage -- improve outside shooting
  • Long-term investment -- chance at NCAA title
Go ...
  • Sell high -- he's hot now
  • Blue chip -- best point guard available
  • Cash

As Ohio State moved one step closer to the Final Four, freshman point guard Mike Conley Jr. moved one step closer to the NBA. With every NCAA Tournament win -- and every Greg Oden foul -- Conley Jr. dashed up the mock draft boards nearly as fast as he darts to the basket. Considered at the start of the season a talented table-setter who could get the ball to Oden, Conley Jr. now is projected as a lottery pick. If he opts to leave school after only one year, as most NBA insiders expect him to do, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound floor leader likely will go between ninth and 14th.

I agree that it appears that Conley "runs the show" between the two, at least as far as on the court play and and public conversation.

Because of that, the fact that Oden will be the 1 pick whenever he goes, and Conley probably won't be this highly ranked draft wise until the year after next, I think they go.

That being said, they will never have money problems (assuming they're logical with spending) so if they really want to win a NC then they will.

The wild card is Cook. He isn't a lottery pick but with the NCAA talent leaving this year, he could be next year. If they rumor is true that all three will do the same thing, this may weigh in tOSU's favor.

Conley does not "run the show" --- these two are more independent than you think. Comments like that imply that Greg does not think for himself, which I can assure you he does. Yes, they are close friends, but one does not make decisions for the other. Greg is a much more introverted, quiet person is why you do not hear him talk as much.

Hoops stars at the reins of OSU football
By RUSTY MILLER
AP Sports Writer

Basketball point guard Mike Conley Jr. will be an honorary head coach in Ohio State?s annual intrasquad Scarlet vs. Gray spring football game on Saturday.

Conley said he was looking forward to being in charge of the Scarlet?s offense.

?I play my share of video games,? he said Wednesday. ?I like to get up and down the field with the passing game. I?ll mix in some run plays here and there as well.?

Football coach Jim Tressel said he wasn?t trying to hide the fact that he wanted to keep Conley and the other freshmen at Ohio State.

?I certainly want them around here. If we have to put them on the staff to do that, then we?ll do it,? he said with a grin.

?I am going to have to think about some trick plays,? Conley said. ?I don?t have anything in mind right now but I?ll have to work on something for the weekend.?
