PG Mike Conley (1st Team All BIG, NBA All-Star, Oscar Winner, Minnesota Timberwolves)

Ok, from the Northwestern game to the Florida NC game(that's 20 games which is a little more than half of the season) Mike shot 51.4% overall, 39%(15/39) from 3, and 73.4% from the FT line.

From the Oklahoma game to the Memphis game(15 games of their 30 game season) Acie shot 47.3% overall, 48.6%(18/37) from 3, and 79.8% from the FT line.

So, Acie still has him big on 3 point shooting but it's not as big as the pctg.'s say. Acie made 3 more and attempted 2 less. It's not that wide of a gap. He also has him on FT% but Mike has the better overall shooting pctg.

Oregon, do you consider finishing/driving inside to be included in the category of 'great shooting'?

No, but I consider those floaters extremely tough shots. It takes a lot of touch and you rarely see a player master them like he has.

OSUBuckguy, you are correct. I miscounted.

I give Mike bonus points for being ambidextrous.

law made 5 more and attempted 2 fewer. law shot 50% better [(49-33)/33)] than conley did from the 3-point line during that stretch and even over the length of the season. all things being equal, that's at least a 15-point difference for the last 15 games. 15 points may not seem like a lot to you, but remember that a few points here or there often mean the difference between winning, losing, and not making it to the national championship game.

I agree. Mike Conley is a brilliant player, with tremendous quickness, body control and an unreal ability to softly overcome the rim. With time, I don't doubt he will improve his outside shot. But as of now, I don't see how Conley matches Law's ability as a shooter.

I agree, buckguy. That is a significant difference. So while Conley improved from 3 Acie was superior.

After compiling these statistics, with the help of buckguy, I'll concede Law was still the better shooter at the end of the year. Mike will be much better next year though.

Scary that he can become even better; or scary that you're agreeing with oregonbuck?

The Conley question

By Adrian Wojnarowski
Monday, Apr 9, 2007 7:35 pm EDT

If Ohio State's Mike Conley Jr., decides to enter the NBA draft after his freshman season, he will create an interesting dilemma for pro executives.

Most have Texas A&M's Acie Law at the top of their draft boards for point guards, but how do you measure him against a prospect three years younger?

Conley is projected to go 10th.

To the Timberwolves. That is a lottery pick. Acie is to go 14th to the warriors another lottery pick. This is a mock draft but still they are NEVER off to the point that would put Conley out of a lottery pick. I would like to think that both he and Oden would stay but that is selfish. They need to get the money now. Being lottery picks the money is guaranteed. With Conley Sr. applying for Agency this year is another sign.

These guys are both going. Let's see "a multimillion dollar NBA contract" or "a bunch of crazy buckeye fans pestering you with chants of "one more year"....Let me think. Anyone that would go with the pestering fans is retarded.
