PG Mike Conley (1st Team All BIG, NBA All-Star, Oscar Winner, Minnesota Timberwolves)

Law and Conley are pretty close to equal right now, with Law being a better shooter and Conley a better floor general. The difference is one is 18 and the other is 21, so Conley has a much greater upside. There is no way Conley wouldn't be a lottery pick, and as I said a couple of weeks ago, i've felt all along that Conley will enter this draft; even before I thought he was lottery pick material.

I wouldn't say Law is a better shooter now.

I think Conley's mid-range game needs a lot of work and he needs to be more consistent from the FT line but he improved a ton towards the end of the year whereas I thought Law was much more inconsistent towards the end of the year most likely due to tired legs.

conley shot 30% from behind the arc and 70% from the line.

law shot 46% from behind the arc and 78% from the line.

I'm sorry, I really should've clarified. I'm talking about how they finished. No doubt Law had the far better overall season shooting but by the end of it I thought Conley was just as good.

Oh, and Mike shot 52.1% from the field and Acie shot 50%.

Shooter = Humphrey, Reddick. How many times does Conley actually 'shoot' the ball in a game? Most of his points come from runners and layups.

Mike is a hell of a player, but his shooting is one of the things he needs to improve. Law is a much better shooter...of course he's had 3 more years of college ball to improve his shot.
Agreed, from reading scouting reports and raw statistics, this really seems to be the case.

Law has an excellent midrange game... and has him beat from the arc.

How is Conley a better shooter, right now?

I wasn't comparing Conley to a Reddick or Humphrey.

Conley's 3 pt. shooting pctg. is only 30% because he was shooting around 20% for almost the entire first half of the season.

Hold on. Let me get some statistics to see if that's accurate.

No, but do you agree that's how you measure which of the two is a better 'shooter'? How often does Conley pull up and hit a jumper?

If what you claim is true, then he is now a 40% 3pt shooter. That stat still favors law. Combine that with Law's edge in the midrange game, and I don't see where you're coming from.

for the last 10 games of conley's season, he shot 28% (7/25) behind the arc and 38/50 (76%) from the free throw line. up to the last 10 games of his season, conley shot 32% (14/44) behind the arc and 66% (62/94) from the free throw line.

while conley's free throw shooting got considerably better, his 3-point shooting got worse, though not much.

for the last 10 games of law's season, he shot 46% (11/24) behind the arc and 78% (59/76) from the free throw line. up to the last 10 games of his season, law shot 46% (24/59) behind the arc and 78% (85/109).

as you should note, law was the model of both consistency and proficiency. to put it bluntly, oregonbuckeye, what in the world are you basing your statement on when you claim that "law was much more inconsistent towards the end of the year"?

though i agree that conley was just as good if not better, you discussed each as overall shooters. law is obviously a better shooter.
Oh, and Mike shot 52.1% from the field and Acie shot 50%.
you're not seriously noting a stat that has a differential of 2 percentage points, are you? in light of their remarkable differences from the 3-point line, it is apparent that conley is a better finisher and law is a better overall shooter.
