do we need a pg discussion thread that rivals that of the qb discussion thread aka zwick vs smith version 2.0 (or is it 2.1)_?

There is no debating that info in the top post of this page...From a good source...

Sorry to get off topic tho, we will get back to Kecman, just for you mr. melrose...:tongue2:

OSU men's basketball: Questions linger over transfer's eligibility

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
More than a week after two junior-college players committed to play men's basketball at Ohio State next season, the school announced yesterday that it has signed letters of intent from forward Nikola Kecman and guard Jeremie Simmons. How many games Kecman is available to play, though, will not be certain until the NCAA investigates whether a club team he played for two years ago in his native Serbia included professionals.
"I'm not concerned about it," OSU coach Thad Matta said when asked about the possibility of losing Kecman for part or all of next season. "The people we've spoken to said they had documentation (that the team did not include professionals). They say he's in good shape."

This eligibility question scares me a little. I do not think that the teams (clubs) over in Europe are totally honest when they fill out documentation regarding who played on what team. I would not be surprised to see Kecman ruled ineligible by the NCAA even though he did not take money but some of his teammates did. Maybe they would only rule him ineligible for part of the season is that became true but his juco coach in Arizona says that if he played on a team with professionals then they played their season last year for nothing. Just hope it does not become fact.

it is what it is. its a calculated risk anytime you take a euro these days. the rules have changed and im sured the staff did their homework. all they can do is look at information they find make a choice, submitt it to the ncaa and see if the ncaa has the same feeling.

this strikes home at theosu do to obrien and vladmir radonivich. the recruit that was ruled ineligible then got $6,000 and was the fire starter on the obie ordeal...

More information on Kecman, Simmons

A few things I neglected or didn?t have room to include in yesterday?s story on the signing of junior-college transfers Nikola Kecman and Jeremie Simmons:
First, if Kecman (pronounced KETS-man) indeed is found by the NCAA to have played with a Serbian club team that included professionals, how long could his suspension last?
The penalty could go one of two ways.

If Kecman had completed high school when he played for the club during the 2006-07 season -- and he would have been 20 years old at the time, so it?s reasonable to assume he had -- the penalty is two NCAA games for every one game he played with the Serbian club. If Kecman was still in high school, the penalty is one game for one game.

? Ohio State has not received a ruling from the NCAA regarding the eligibility of junior-college transfer Nikola Kecman (pronounced KETS-man). The NCAA is investigating whether a club team Kecman played for in his native Serbia two years ago included professionals. Matta said he expects a ruling before the season.
