Do you think he needs to get taller in order to dominate defensively or to be able to get his shots off?

He had no problem getting shots off against Hobbs from DeSales who is 7-1. He uses his body quite well in the lane, it wouldn't hurt if he grew a couple of inches, but that never hurts. He may be lacking the "wow" factor because it seems like he prefers to be more fundamentally sound then other top prospects.

40, trying to understand what you are saying here. Jared wears a size 18 shoe so I think by the time he graduates he probably will be 6'10" or possibly even a little taller. From reading the article in the Dispatch, it sounds like he is a very well-rounded player now and is dominating offensively as a sophomore in high school. Do you think he needs to get taller in order to dominate defensively or to be able to get his shots off? Just curious.

I realize that you know more about basketball then a sports writer from the Dispatch with no disrespect to that rag:biggrin:

What I am saying is much like what we saw with Terrance Dials when he went up against someone like Roy Hibbert, or what you see with Hansbrough when he goes up against some bigger guys...If the guys they are going up against can match their stregth it is difficult for them to have an impact...

Jared is a well rounded player, and he has very solid moves on the block, and a soft touch, out to about 15-18 feet...

I guess what I wasnt extemely impressed with is his body type, and let me clarify and put at the moment, but if he does grow to be 6'10'-11' or so with his skills and size he will be very dominant and tough to stop...

Also from what I saw he is not a feared type defender from the weak side to come over and put the ball into the 3rd row of the stands like we see from Oden, Mullens, Hunter, Wallace, etc...Just solid in playing post defense and getting his hands up to try and alter shots...

Also let me say that Hobbs even tho he has size is no match for 6'6'' big guys, as he is just a weak big body with lots of size...Reminds me of a high school shawn Bradley or George Murasean (Sp)

Keep in mind that he has a lot of time to grow into the potential that is there, but like I said he just doesnt have that wow factor that I kinda expected with his rankings...

I personally do not care if he grows one more inch.....he is the type of player tOSU has been missing the last few years, a banger inside who can dominate on the boards.

We have that in Dallas once he starts getting more time, but while Sullinger will bang, it would hurt in terms of mismatches, if he doesn't grow much more...

I can see your point of view but if you are comparing him to Dials....I will gladly take that comparison considering Dials career. I loved his game.

Sullinger will most likely grow to about 6-9 or higher......according to his doctors.....

I am with you...I just think I was expecting a little more with his lofty ranking...

Don't get me wrong I am happy that we got him, and do believe that he will grow into being a very strong C...I just hope that he can grow to be 6'11'' or so...

Dispatch

After watching Brookhaven win 13 City League North Division championships from 1994 to 2006, Northland is now on top after a 70-61 victory that gave the host Vikings a season sweep and a seemingly insurmountable two-game lead over the Bearcats.

In fairness, the Vikings' win was more of a two-man job. Six-nine sophomore center Jared Sullinger had 25 points and 15 rebounds.
The score was close until midway through the third quarter when Northland (13-0, 9-0) went on a 21-3 run spanning eight minutes for a 58-43 lead. Sullinger, an Ohio State recruit, and Moore combined for 16 points in the burst.

The more I think about this the more, I think that Sullinger reminds me of a younger Kevin Love type player...

They are just so technically sound, with lots of strength and very good around the hoop...

I would really like to see Northland advance in the state tourney to be able to get another chance to watch him play...
