PF Jared Sullinger (2x 1st Team ALL B1G & All American, Anyang KGC, S.Korea)

I saw some of the Northland vs. Brookhaven game on tv and Jared looks like a very nice player. He does not seem to have outlandish athletecism (only a Soph though) but seems very fundamentally sound. He appears to have a wide array of moves on offense and looks to have a good nose for the ball. It also looks like he wants the ball from a rebounding standpoint (much like JJ) which would be good with tOSU's recent rebounding woes.

Obviously a very good get from Matta and the staff. Keep working and growing Jared

24 points or so tonight.

He was a beast against DeSales. Must have gone to the line 8-11 times.

Once he fills out (esp after a college S&C program), he is going to be a serious load in the paint (already is). He looked about 6'6"-6'7" standing next to DeSales' 6'11" center (NW recruit). Pretty light on his feet for his large size.

Thought they listed Sullinger at 6'9 and the DeSales center at 7'2. But who knows those measurements are always off.

Very polished offensive game, and he is a bruiser on defense. But honestly, all I thought about the entire game is how good he is going to be when he turns 20 pounds of that baby fat into muscle. Right now, he is slow up and down the court, and then as soon as he gets the ball he just goes to work like lightning. Then, as soon as he scores, slow back down the court, then a great defensive effort or box out. When he gets into a college S&C program and gets stronger, quicker, and especially gains stamina, he is going to be a hell of a player for us.

Northland's Ian Nixon, right, and DeSales' Ike Ariguzo vie for a rebound in the first half of a game played in Value City Arena as part of the National City Classic.

Careful not to provide any future opponent with bulletin-board material, Jared Sullinger admitted that a tasty thought crossed his mind a few times while sprinting up and down Ohio State's Value City Arena last night.
"It occurred to me that there's a chance we could be coming back here for the state tournament," the 6-foot-9 sophomore said, with a sheepish grin, "but I quickly wiped that thought out of there and remembered that I'm only supposed to be thinking about DeSales."
Thanks to Sullinger's 24 points and 17 rebounds, Northland defeated DeSales 62-40 in the National City Classic to improve to 11-0.

I really like what Sullinger brings to the table, and I can't help but think about what he can be, but he is going to need to grow taller to be able to play his game at the college level and be dominant...His body type reminds me of Terrance Dials, but he has quicker feet, and has some really nice post moves, and puts the ball on the floor very well...

What I will say is he didnt have the wow factor I was expecting in terms of his high lofty ranking, but he does have the potential to be ranked that high if he grows to be as tall as he is projected and his body develops...

40, trying to understand what you are saying here. Jared wears a size 18 shoe so I think by the time he graduates he probably will be 6'10" or possibly even a little taller. From reading the article in the Dispatch, it sounds like he is a very well-rounded player now and is dominating offensively as a sophomore in high school. Do you think he needs to get taller in order to dominate defensively or to be able to get his shots off? Just curious.

I realize that you know more about basketball then a sports writer from the Dispatch with no disrespect to that rag:biggrin:
