Like all you want it isn't going to happen and I don't think it's a particularly good idea.
Yeah, I'm not a coach. And I don't see the practices.

I'm just not crazy about Ravenel being the first big off the bench.

Amir is not ready for prime time but...

Let's hope for an entertaining game and no injuries and a 'W'.

Go Bucks!

Two week ban for not knocking on wood.

Sully says he will be back for Saturday, but I don't like the way he hobbled off the court either time.

If he bruised his tailbone on that fall, that's gonna hurt for a good week or two. I bruised mine once, and it hurt like hell to sit down, and the twinges of pain were still there just walking around for a few days. Hopefully how he was walking was because of that (and it looked like he might have gotten hit in his groin when he got that foul out top), and not because it aggravated his back.

A Student of the Game, Educated by Former Buckeyes
By PETE THAMEL
Published: February 10, 2012

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? With his giant derri?re backed into his defender?s hip, the Ohio State star Jared Sullinger decisively plants his size 18 Nikes in the paint before snatching entry passes with his flypaper hands. Buckeyes Coach Thad Matta says that the first time Sullinger touches the ball each game is ?a science experiment,? a moment when Sullinger begins to calculate the nuances of the opponent?s defensive scheme.

Ohio State's Jared Sullinger has averaged 17.4 points and 9.0 rebounds a game.

At its core, Sullinger?s mature and unselfish game feels more European than American, the byproduct of a classroom that has blossomed organically from the Buckeyes program. As a ninth grader, Sullinger began playing pickup games with the teammates of his older brother, the former Buckeyes guard J. J. Sullinger. Thanks to years of absorbing the physicality, professionalism and wisdom of players nearly a decade older, Jared Sullinger entered Ohio State with a graduate-level understanding of basketball nuance.

?Obviously, Jared?s got a big butt and he uses it to his advantage,? the Ohio State assistant Jeff Boals said. ?He understands angles and knows he?s not the most explosive guy. So he reads angles and did that from Day 1.?

If you watch that enough times that MSU player looks fake.
that is just the low spot on the court that the msu player is walking over. if you watch enough osu basketball, you'll see that our players ignore that spot on the court. i'm not sure why matta or anyone else (like the big ten office, actually) has never addressed it. i think it works in our favor, though.

Sullinger going or staying

I guess it's about time this chatter can start.

From theozone
By Ben Axelrod
While Buford will be the sole Buckeye honored on Sunday, he might not be the only one playing in his final game at Value City Arena. Ohio State sophomore forward Jared Sullinger is projected to be a top-10 pick in this June?s NBA Draft, although Matta said that his leading-scorer and rebounder is yet to make a decision regarding his future.

?I don?t know,? Matta said. ?We haven?t talked about. I think there?s a possibility that it could be. I hope it isn?t.?

Sullinger would have likely been a top-five pick in last year?s draft, but opted to return to school for one more year. Matta said the Columbus-native?s NBA future has been anything but a distraction to the Buckeyes this year.

?To Jared?s credit, it hasn?t even been discussed,? Matta said.

?Which is exactly what I asked him to do, and I think he?s done a really good job with that.?

Is 'matured' Jared Sullinger playing last home game for Ohio State?
Published: Saturday, February 25
By Doug Lesmerises, The Plain Dealer

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jared Sullinger turned down a chance to be an NBA lottery pick after his freshman season and returned for his sophomore year at Ohio State. Though the No. 8 Buckeyes are 23-5, his growth in year two has included some lessons in handling a season that doesn't go quite as you had hoped.

"He's done more losing this year than he's ever done, and it's killing him," Sullinger's father and high school coach, Satch, told The Plain Dealer. "Things have been pretty easy for him, and this season was like, 'Welcome to the real world, baby boy.'

"He's matured. He's not the same little boy that he was last year. I respect him as a young man now. I'm so proud of him. And let's face it man, when you're a lottery pick, you're not going to a team where you're winning. You're in the lottery because you're losing, so this year has helped him understand that you don't take winning for granted. Winning is a process, and some people are talented, but not everybody is a dang winner."

For Satch Sullinger, his son is all about winning. Though Jared Sullinger won't take the court for Senior Day ceremonies before Ohio State's final home game Sunday against No. 16 Wisconsin, fans might be wise to prepare to say goodbye, while hoping Sullinger goes out with another victory.

Sullinger hasn't been asked about his future nearly as much as he was as a freshman, but it's tough to expect more than one bonus season out of a lottery pick. He was seen as a sure top-10, and probable top-five, pick last season, and at this moment three mock draft Web sites have him either as the fifth, sixth or seventh prospect.

Both Satch Sullinger and OSU coach Thad Matta said they haven't discussed the future with Jared.

"We don't talk anything about it," Satch Sullinger said. "He and I both agreed. You can't perform at the Ohio State University and be worried about something at the next level. And whatever decision he makes he can't make now anyway. Why make a decision and limit yourself? I'm telling you right now, he's not playing for money, he's playing to win.

"I think there is a possibility that it could be. I hope it isn't," Matta said when asked if he thought this would be Sullinger's last home game. "To Jared's credit, it hasn't even been discussed."

Ohio State men's basketball: Sullinger refocuses on his play, not refs
By Bob Baptist

The Columbus Dispatch Wednesday February 29, 2012

Jay LaPrete | Associated Press

"We might not win the Big Ten, but now we're playing for something bigger than the Big Ten. We're playing for a seed (in the NCAA Tournament)." -- Jared Sullinger

For two months, Jared Sullinger has been distracted by a double standard he thinks Big Ten officials have for him on the basketball court.

How can he be hacked going for a basket or rebound at one end and no foul be called, he has wondered, but just touch his opponent at the other end and hear a whistle blow?

?That is the question I?ve been trying to answer,? he said.

He has found no answer, though, and he said yesterday that he does not intend to waste any more of his time or Ohio State?s season ?worrying about outside forces. Just worry about playing the game and trying to win a basketball game.?

The 10th-ranked Buckeyes, losers of three of their past five games, play their next-to-last regular-season game tonight at Northwestern. They finish on Sunday at Michigan State.

They need to win both to gain a share of their third straight Big Ten championship. Michigan State?s loss at Indiana last night left them with a chance.

?We might not win the Big Ten, but now we?re playing for something bigger than the Big Ten. We?re playing for a seed (in the NCAA Tournament),? Sullinger said. ?It?s not the end of the world. We still have life.?

Big Ten's player of the week

Ohio State's Jared Sullinger is the Big Ten's player of the week in men's basketball, the conference announced this morning.

The 6-foot-9 sophomore averaged 18 points, 14 rebounds and 3.5 assists to lead the Buckeyes to road victories over Northwestern and Michigan State and a share of the Big Ten championship. In OSU's 72-70 victory yesterday over the Spartans, Sullinger had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

The player-of-the-week award is the seventh in Sullinger's career and third this season.

Michigan's Trey Burke, who was a teammate of Sullinger's at Northland High School, shares this week's award for Big Ten freshman of the week with Indiana's Cody Zeller.

Burke averaged 20 points, three assists and three rebounds in road wins over Illinois and Penn State. The Wolverines also clinched a share of the Big Ten title.

I think Sullinger has probably diminished his draft stock this season, but that may not have been a bad thing. I liken him to Carlos Boozer in the NBA. A good post player, with okay/good rebounding and an okay/good outside shot. Doesn't play "big" frequently enough. However Carlos probably has a mean streak that I don't see as much from Jared. All in all, he's a top-10 pick and could be a starting PF on many teams.

The question comes, did his draft stock hit a ceiling last year, and now he'll just go down the longer he stays in college (and thus he should go pro after this season) or can he improve the draft stock after further college refinement? He could also come out, and try to start getting coached and adapted to the NBA life and start the professional process sooner than later. I hope he stays for my own selfish reasons, I think if he stayed it could benefit him professionally, but I also think he might need to declare. This could also depend on which other college post-players are going to declare as well.

I do think he's been a bit exposed at times this season, but that also fell on times when his teammates couldn't make shots to help him out from the double teams. Its difficult to sift through all the intricacies of where Jared's draft stock sits.
