Peyton Manning (Purveyor of Budweiser and tea bags)

If you look at the competition within the divisions, Peyton would be nuts to go anywhere but Denver. If Tim got them to a playoff victory, then they have a shot with Peyton at the helm. Of course, one hit and they have no QB again.

I would love for Tim to be able to hold his clipboard for a year or two, get coached up on his mechanics with a non-strike limited off season, and see if he can be another Alex Smith.

That said, the Jags need someone to fill seats.

ugh, I bet Tebow gets traded to the Dolphins...great..now the local media here will be sucking the cock

Man, I hope not. Paul from Paul and Young Ron (popular morning radio show down here) would bust a nut all over the studio if that happened. Ugh.

That was my thought, too, but I've seen/heard more than one "expert" guest on ESPN say he is no more or less likely to reinjure that area than anyone else once the fusion is healed.

Of course, one hit could take out any QB. It's the NFL.

True.
But the Gators last ruined Peyton's season in 1997. He is on the longish side of the effective QB age curve (Farve the Zombie QB notwithstanding).

I don't think that the Broncos were particularly effective at pass blocking (for Orton and drop back guys....Tim kept the rush honest because of the running threat). I think opposing Ds will beat the shit out of Manning in Denver.

I'd still take him, mind you. I just have little doubts that he'll play more than a year or two.

I don't disagree, simply because he'll be a 36 year old QB with a lot of mileage on the tires. I was just addressing the apparent suggestion that his surgery made him more susceptible to injury.

What this move also tells us is what Elway really thinks of Tebow's long term prospects.

Yeah. Indy crafted its playbook and made personnel decisions all with a mind to match Manning's skill set. I just don't think that Denver's receiver corp and O-line has the skill set to get open/pass protect a statue like Peyton.

Hell, you knew that when he was caught not clapping when Tim won one of those first games. He was forced by the Tim-bots to act nice, but only a blind fan would believe that Elway wanted Tim as the long term QB.

Peyton is the best way to dump Tim. Anyone but a legend would be hated. Even Tim fans have to get on board a hall of fame legendary QB. Good move by Elway to ease Tim out. It is genius from a political PR standpoint - IMO.

This move to me reeks of Elway thinking Manning can end his career like Johnny boy ended his...winning a couple of SBs with a team that he didn't really have to carry as much, which was strong on running and defense. I don't know that this Denver team matches up well with the 1997 Denver team, and I don't know that the line is going to keep Peyton from getting killed. That said, it is fine as a gamble, but it is definitely a gamble, as they are going to have to develop someone else from scratch now (or sign someone else) as soon as 2013 or 2014.
