Peyton Hillis (official thread)

y0yoyoin;1908752; said:
if you are truly a browns fan and a hillis fan then you will not vote for hillis...the madden curse and cleveland curse combined = hillis spending the season on the IR...anyone who votes for hillis can have fun staring at the cover while hillis is on the sidelines rehabbing a torn MCL

Tonyank;1908761; said:
Vote and vote often, may not ever be another chance to have a Brown on the cover. Curse is stupid.

Tonyank;1908799; said:
He wasnt on the cover last year and was FAR from healthy

Scary?

This is Dumb

Vince young missed one whole game oooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo

Farve lost 4 games

Brees oh ya nothing there.

I got a bridge for sale, you down ??

Fact is there are injuries all over the NFL. Hillis and Vick both missed games last year. Which list is bigger, People that got hurt, banged up last year AND, lost games or People who stayed 100% healthy and had a MVP year.

OMG i would hate to see this !!!!!!

Tonyank;1908819; said:
I hope he wins even more now lol

GO HILLIS!!!!!!!!

Just name me ONE player from last year, that you could say WOULD'NT have been cursed if he was on the cover. One superstar from last year that went w/o injury and had an awesome year. then you'll see my point. NOT VERY MANY WOULDN'T be considered cursed.

You name the player, I'll give you the "curse"

BTW, i did not call you an idiot or anything else. The theory is dumb. Finding things that are "cursed" is easy.

colobuck79;1908821; said:
I am willing to risk the curse. The Brown's luck is so bad, I think it is likely that a Hillis cover will actually reverse their fortunes and lead to great things. I have done some very complicated calculations to confirm this, and I won't bother you with the details regarding the theory of relativity and whatnot. It turns out that in quantum physics Red Right 88 + The Drive + The Fumble = Phuck Me. So as you can see, it is all good, bring on the curse, I am not afraid. :pirate1:

jlb1705;1908832; said:
Madden Curse? The Cleveland Curse laughs in the face of the Madden Curse.

Being on the cover of the game can't do anything to him that wouldn't come to him 10x worse by simply putting on a Browns jersey.

Tonyank;1908839; said:
During this whole Vote thing, A tsunami hit Japan. They Vote is now cursed.

KingLeon;1908958; said:
I'm not sure what a curse has to do with football.

Anyways, there is no such thing as a Madden curse. Coincidence probably, but curse, no......

BayBuck;1909010; said:
Intelligent people are really arguing that the Madden Curse is a real thing? Maybe if I squint really hard I can make out a coherent pattern... Several of the guys on the Curse list are older RBs who got dinged up (Eddie, Faulk, Alexander), Barry retired on his own, and Favre should have. McNabb sure had a great 2008-2009 for a guy who's career came to an end, same with Culpepper in 2004, and I think Vick had some other stuff going on. Ray Lewis, Vince Young, Larry Fitzgerald were not Cursed. At least several of the guys signed big contracts before their Madden year, so maybe there's a correlation there too if we look for it.

BayBuck;1909041; said:
No explanation needed, but there's also no need to go back over it year-by-year and lay out all the evidence just because someone doesn't knock-wood for Peyton's sake. Hillis is a power-back who has been injured before, so let's not ignore the reality of life in the NFL if he misses the back half of another losing season in Cleveland. (Madden Curse is not even original: people have been playing the SI Jinx game for ages, which suggests it's more a matter of higher visibility making injuries seem more pronounced.)

out at least 2 weeks...that will bring his grand total to 5...there is no curse...great job guys

its just annoying...some browns fans would rather have hillis on the cover a of a video game then play in real life...and im not even joking

Let's look at the history..

Before Hillis:
Brees - he had a fine, injury-free season with a QB rating of 90.9.

Polamalu and Fitzgerald - Polamalu has been injury prone for years. Like Hillis, he plays a physical, unforgiving game. Fitz was fine. Over 1000 yards/13 TDs.

Brett Favre - While not a great season, he was healthy. His issues were all Brett Favre issues, meaning him being a fucking idiot in the clutch.

Vince Young - Why the fuck was he even on the cover? Anyways, his own team hated him. But he was healthy.

Shaun Alexander - he did get injured, but he was also a workhorse RB. RBs don't last forever, especially ones who get that many carries.

McNabb - mobile QB, had injury concerns already. Was playing great when he wasn't injured.

Ray Lewis - solid season.

Vick - missed 11 games because he broke his leg. Another mobile QB. Imagine that.

Marshall Faulk - another RB toward the end of his career. Was injured.

Culpepper - ok, Culpepper got hit with the curse I guess.

Eddie George - had a fine season and got to the Super Bowl.

Barry Sanders - retired.

Other than Barry Sanders and Culpepper, there are logical reasons for injuries. Culpepper did a decent amount of running and getting hit himself, though.

  • 2010, Troy Polamalu/Larry Fitzgerald: Polamalu only played five games due to knee injuries, Steelers missed playoffs; Fitzgerald wasn?t affected much (97 receptions, 1,092 yards, 13 TD, Pro Bowl).
  • 2009, Brett Favre: Feuded with Packers, traded to Jets, horrible down the stretch (lost 4 of last 5).
  • 2008, Vince Young: Missed 1 game with quad injury; led Titans to first playoff appearance in four years. Has had off season and personal issues since
  • 2007, Shaun Alexander: Fractured foot, missed six games; fewer yards and TDs in '06 AND '07 than in '04 OR '05.
  • 2006, Donovan McNabb: Sports hernia in first game, missed seven games; feuded with Terrell Owens all year; had been to five straight Pro Bowls, hasn't been since.
  • 2005, Ray Lewis: Broke wrist, missed one game; first season without interception; missed 10 games next year with thigh injury.
  • 2004, Michael Vick: Fractured fibula one day after video game was released, missed 11 games; Pro Bowl next 2 seasons; obvious issues since then.
  • 2003, Marshall Faulk: Ankle injury, missed two games, never rushed for 1,000 yards again.
  • 2002, Daunte Culpepper: 4-7 record before season-ending knee injury.
  • 2001, Eddie George: Career season, but fumbled in playoffs as top-seeded Titans lost first game to Ravens.
  • 2000, Barry Sanders: Retired one week before training camp.
you may think its stupid but there is obviously a scary trend going on here...i would rather have hillis healthy and have a great season then see him on the cover of a fucking video game

and i will throw in drew brees

2011 Drew Brees - Most INT of his career and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Seattle

Puhleeze. He plays for the [censored]ing Cleveland Browns. He doesn't need an imaginary curse to get hurt and suck. The clowns rebirth is littered with "one year wonder" players...especially rbs...Green, Suggs, Droughns, Lewis, Harrison...

But, I do think getting the cover has caused him to develop a cleft asshole as he now thinks he's a bigger star than he really is. Either way, I have serious doubts his production was ever going to approach last season's...particularly in this sad sack clowns offense. He's just not a wco feature back.
