People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

Just went through this with one of my kids, and I'm an estimator as a profession so it's interesting to me. The thing to keep in mind is that focus for this subject is the CONCEPT of estimating, not reaching the 'right' answer. You can't teach that to kids using intense math/numbers, but, there are instances like this when it's perhaps TOO simple and doing the formulaic solution is easier and more logical to some students. I'd bet the majority of the class got that problem 'correct' because they didn't take the step above and beyond what was instructed on the test. My daughter made the same 'mistake' on her test, but was only docked half point for not following the instructions while reaching the 'correct' answer. Gotta watch out for estimators anyway... strange people :nerd:

This past weekend I went through a McDonald's drive thru. A young guy had just finished pressure-washing the drive way in front of the pay windows.
The car in front of me opens its driver side window and dumps the remains of their 32 oz cup on the drive way and building. WTF is wrong with people? She had seen him toting the hose and equipment around.

Oh. My. God.

Do you live in the Columbus, Ohio area? Made any local phone calls lately?

Turns out the Feds have decided we need more phone numbers, and are adding a second area code. So, starting now--and FOREVER--whenever we want to call anyone around here, we will have to dial the area code as well.

Aside for the pita of having to dial additional numbers every single phone call you make, imagine the fun once they get the new numbers assigned and people start calling the wrong area code and getting you instead. Start practicing saying "what area code were you calling?" right now.
