People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

A few days late on this one but...

Finding a competent and trustworthy mechanic seems to be the hardest thing to do. I hate car repairs.

Time Fucking Warner Cable.

Had to take them during my temporary relocation.

98.89% of the people who answer their phones now are foreign. (Now, I do NOT believe there has been mass immigration to Idaho from all over the world--they're apparently out-sourcing their customer service calls.)

They jerked me around on the day of the move and postponed my installation appointment for a week.

They screwed up porting my land line # and now it is lost and I get to notify everyone I deal with by phone of the changed number.

They locked me out of my online account earlier today and then, instead of fixing it while I was on the phone with them, they locked me completely out of the internet and I had to get that fixed, too.

They. Are. Idiots.

Which is a damn shame, because years ago I thought they had some of the best customer service of anyone I dealt with. Maybe I was just lucky then.

Yeah Time Warner, had them when I lived for a bit in North Cakalcky. Their install guys were the worst. When I only hooked up 3 rooms in my house, the guy cut all the other lines to other areas of the house inside the crawl space. Anything inside the foundation is mine you idiots...

As far as Time Warner goes. I'm getting over on them on a monthly basis (at least as much as a "customer" of theirs can.) I had their cable turned off over the summer. I was tired of paying $150+ for something I only watched a little bit and for internet. I work from home and I get their fast internet. So I decided to reduce it to just internet over the summer. Football season was fast approaching so I wanted to turn just the basic-no cable box-cable on so I wouldn't miss the games. The woman I spoke with said I would actually save money if I got one box added to the account. It would be around $117 (some savings!) she said. I never went in to pick up the box and I'm still only getting charged $60 a month. That isn't too bad for their cable and business speed internet. It's been that way for like 4 or 5 months now. It's not "stealing" cable. They're the ones who came out here and turned it back on. They're just such idiots that they don't even know that they aren't charging me I guess. Screw 'em.

So we just had new people move into the unit next to ours a few weeks ago, and have also seen a major spike in roaches. Found out today that the unit on the other side of them (the new folks are a corner unit) has also requested pest control twice in the last month for similar reasons as us. They leave their garge door up for a large part of the day, and I now suspect that something(s) they own were infested. Saw 10 crawling around the kitchen sink area this morning which creeped me out big time, but managed to kill 9 of them. The community office said that the issue is likely either the new people or a larger issue with the building since both complaints came from fairly clean units. If it's the new neighbors...

@scarletmike one thing I don't miss living in the Midwest is roaches. I felt like we were always dealing with them and Palmetto bugs in NC. you know where there is one there are most likely a ton...

My fiancé has lived there for 3 years in May, myself for 2, and we only ever saw a few a year. Now we start seeing a ton, at a similar time as new people move in. I'm ticked.

Finding a competent and trustworthy mechanic seems to be the hardest thing to do. I hate car repairs.

Flex pipe and a couple gaskets in the exhaust were shot on my car so finally got that repaired Friday afternoon. Had been putting off the repair for awhile because I was lead to believe (from the dealer when I had the vehicle in for recall-replacement of a cruise control cable) that it was going to be the entire catalytic converter. Thankfully the muffler guy I've been going to for 20 years made my day when I found out my presumed $800+ repair bill would be under $250 and done within an hour.

Drove out of there happy. My car had pickup I forgot it had while driving it without a complete, working exhaust. Was so amped up to finally have it done (and a quiet cabin) that I was ready to just go for a joy ride for the fuck of it.

Got home from the muffler shop, put the garage door down, and the fucking torsion spring on the opener snapped in half.

People who tell me how "busy" they are on a daily basis. Everyone is so "busy".....

I really like the ones that are always busy and will tell you how busy they are, and then anytime they want to get together it always has to be on their timeframe. We have problems with My SIL when it comes to this. Saying that we need to get our kids together etc, but it always has to be around what works for her and her kids schedule, because you know my families time or schedule doesn't really matter

I'm with you. I call clients who tell me they're too busy to talk then post to Facebook immediately thereafter.
