Game Thread Penn State vs tOSU, Sat Nov 13, 3:30 ET ABC/ESPN

1. Walk on QB
2. Royster is the single most over-hyped RB in the conference (Shaw would be if anyone outside of AA actually hyped him)
3. We are better this year than last year
4. Penn State is worse than last year
5. In the Shoe
6. JT = Mr. November
7. Crowd will be STOKED
8. Coming off a bye week
9. No more motivation for 400
10. Our players know they need "statement games"
11. Plungers are on sale at Target

Ohio State 38
Penn State 12

12. TP playing for tOSU rather than a place that's "too country"

I'm really excited for this game for a couple of reasons. It's been a while since we've faced a quality opponent and these guys should act as an appetizer for Iowa, who is a quality opponent. I'm not ready to call PSU a good team, but i'd say they are better than the chopped liver we've been devouring lately. Second, I'm excited for gameday in Columbus. No, not College Gameday with ESPN, although that sure will add to the atmosphere. What I can't wait for is the usual fall feel on Saturdays here in Columbus. Even the past few gamedays have been rather lackluster, and with a 3:30 game against a not quite rival, I'm sure campus will be straight madness. Can't wait to see our Buckeyes out there Saturday!

I admit it. I have friends that went to Penn State. Sorry. I like them except for that. Every year this point in the season, the shit talking gets intense. But this year, the jive coming from their end is profoundly stupid. I'm getting Facebook messages and voice mail that simply say: "400." Really? The best that they can do is drop JoePa's win total? Horribly pathetic. Is this an isolated situation, or are you guys hearing similar stuff?

You can tell them it'll still be 400 after the game.

Oh, that was the first thing I passed on. I've also been able to work in this gem, thanks to ShaggyBevo!

So this guy at work who isn't into football as much asked who the Bucks were playing... I said Penn State.... his response...

Oh the NIFTY Lions.... and he walked away.

Made me think of how gay the nittany lions really are... and then this was sent thru...

people don't really get it unless they either live here or around multiple fans. there's just no way of explaining it to people.

I really think it goes back to them being king shit of the independent "our biggest rival is Temple" schedule to jack shit "we have as many conference championships as Northwestern" in the Big Ten, they desperately seek validation and attention but just can't get it through being consistently good on the football field

thus the 400 BS and more general love of JoePa, he is the most recognizable and attention getting thing they have

I have said it before, but when JoePa is gone, what does Penn State have going for it? a big stadium? a campus in the middle of nowhere? a fan base that bails on them almost immediately when the going gets tough? recruiting ties with the east coast?

unless they get a miracle worker for a coach once JoePa is gone, I wouldn't be surprised if they were Maryland or Rutgers caliber in a decade...or worse since at least Maryland and Rutgers have interesting campuses with things to do around them

I'm not hearing similar stuff, but I don't have any friends that went to Penn State.

OK, I admit it. I don't have any friends, period. :(

You forget, no matter what the future holds for State Penn, they'll always have The Rail.
