Bob, excellent points. I was at 409, and Joe immediately honored Robinson in the post-game ceremony. As usual, Joe didn't make it about Joe.

It was almost as if Joe were somehow.....what's the word for it? Christlike.

They've been talking about people making pilgrimages to the shrine... the lion statue that recently reopened after construction. I guess with the former statue site, the now-renovated shower area, and a few other points of interest, they can get a whole twisted set of Stations of the PSU Cross. Blargh.

I don't want to fathom what the communion ritual might entail.

Just when I think they couldn't possibly get any dumber, they go and do something like this...and get dumber.

When the 85 scholarship rule was instituted many schools, the SEC, Big12 & PAC10 worked the system by taking away the scholarship from non-performing players. Joe Paterno never did that, every kid that was recruited and kept his grades up kept his scholarship, and a few that didn't kept theirs as well. Penn State held the graduation rate high and all the cheaters hated him for it. College football owes having instant replay to Joe Paterno who ran that Ref/Ann Arbor Rich guy/Michigan Booster, ripped him around and waved his finger in the Ref's face.

He stood behind players wrongly accused of crimes, played them and they were all exonerated.

Just to be fair, since we were playing football with universities who were more interested in basketball we never had our own ref's, meaning we were always getting screwed, yet we still won.

The examples of the cheating Universities and Bowl Game organizations are in great supply, such as Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, UNC, Syracuse, Rutgers, Washington, LSU, the Fiesta Bowl. One thing though regarding Penn State's downfall, it is only corrupt ex-FBI personnel and the Media, the a$$holes of society that are reveling in PSU misfortune. These other institutions have been proven to be corrupt as schools that have cheated to win football games.

Has anybody noticed that the Big Ten Network never airs anything about Penn State? I wonder why we have let our university to be used so badly for money. I would bet that if Rod had called the NCAA's bluff we wouldn't be where we are now, only because of the impact on the television revenues our departure would have caused.
Basically the Big 10 and NCAA are out to get Penn State at every chance and JoePa is a saint.....the usual cult rhetoric

Which, of course, is admirable when Joe does it, however if anyone else tries that shit they're just out for the wins and letting their players run wild!

Yet every week it seems as though they NEVER got a bad call before they were in the Big Ten...

This is a beautiful statement for two reasons.

First, the cultist is actually admitting (though inadvertently, I'm sure) that JoePed's pre-Big Ten success was built upon easy competition.

Second, it is a blatant denial of the record and attempt to rewrite history. Every pre-Big Ten game they ever played at Beavis Stadium was ref'd by JoePed's handpicked crews up to and including fathers of his players. JoePed's blatant manipulation of ref crews was a (if not THE) primary reason that the other Eastern Independents wanted zero part of JoePed's proposed Eastern Conference and, subsequently, made it their first order of business to blackball his application to the Big East when he tried to follow them over there.

It's worse than that ORD -

3 "....we never had our own refs..."

Admission that they did indeed have their own refs, and giving meaning to the next clause, only when they got their own refs did they "not get screwed"

I'm reading it as "we never had our own refs, but won anyways." I think he's going so far as to claim that the basketball schools controlled the refs, but JoePed was so good they won anyways, leading to the standard cult narrative that it was only when JoePed ran up against the evil master plan of Delaney-Ohio State-Michigan and their fixed, corrupt officiating was Dear Leader Pa Joe Il's superior coaching thwarted. JoePed could overcome some corrupt officiating, but not at the level the Big Ten threw at him.

Now, a normal human being would look at Ped Aggy's transition to the Big Ten and say that it was the increase in competition from playing those basketball schools to playing Ohio State, Michigan, a resurgent Wisconsin and a decent Sparty that exposed JoePed. The cultist?

Oh, I am sure that's what that cultist thinks he meant. lol.

As for the cultist question at the end- Joped would have been undefeated every year... but for the conspiracy against him. No doubt about it.
