Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Face the Nation did an interview with Erickson and panel discussion on Penn State. All of the panel felt the sanctions were appropriate except the gentleman from the NYT who thinks it is a disgrace that they are still playing football.

Makes you wonder - just how high does this conspiracy go?

"What culture problem?" "I have no idea where the national media is coming up with this cult idea?" :paranoid:

My guess is that we haven't heard anything from the P(in)h(ead). D(egrees) because they've been egging their comrade in arms Ericksen on in his quest to de-emphasize football and athletics. There is no need to protest on their part because they've been getting what most of them want.

Of course, all real Penn Staters can't help but see the sick irony in all this: that Joe Paterno and his football program did more to build Penn State up as one of the best public universities in the nation than a hundred P(in)h(ead) D(egrees).

Does this guy not seriously understand that he's going to have no offensive line talent or depth in front of him for his entire career? It's hard to rack up first round numbers from your back. Somebody needs to talk some sense into him.

Somebody should also remind him that 4 years of no bowls means about 4 less months of practice time. Missing out on 15 practices or so each season isn't the best way to be developed for a potential NFL career.

What a load of crap. I suppose the cultists believe Joepa literally built the library... His personal financial contributions were a drop in the bucket too.

So they must believe that his Football program's sucess helped with fuindraising? The link between Athletic program sucess and academic fundraising is tenuous at best. The article linked below suggests that Athletic program success increases donations earmarked for athletics but negatively affects donations to the academic side.

can anyone fill me in on their backup QB, Bolden?

he's rumored to be heading to LSU to add some depth to our roster.

He's, maybe, the worst QB in the B1G. Seriously, he stinks. Walk-on, pick-6 machine, McMoxie gets playing time, and was the favored starter over him coming into this season. If he has to play, you better hope your defense can go on a Hersheiser-esque scoreless streak...

GPA worthy just for the use of Hersheiser-esque.

(I'm a bit older and might have gone with Drysdalian.)

Bolden was put on this Earth to participate in bar fights so that some other, more useful football player doesn't have to get involved.
