Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Hackenberg(the star of the class) has been lighting it up on the combine circuit. He'll be a hot commodity even after this year. I would be amazed if he sticks with his commitment! They lose him and things will get very bleak fast. Once he sees who is going to be blocking for him he'll have second thoughts. That just makes sense.

While he's whining about the ethics of other coaches coming to PedState to recruit players, BOB is lying to his own team to encourage them to stay:

Even after Penn State was hit with NCAA sanctions that have been likened to the dreaded "death penalty" that was given to SMU in the mid-1980s, coach Bill O'Brien is still maintaining a glass-half-full mentality.
On Friday, O'Brien said he believed the NCAA could reduce the penalties levied against Penn State last Monday. Included in those penalties were a four-year bowl ban and a loss of 40 scholarships over the next four years.
"That can go either way," O'Brien said. "If we're not crossing our Ts and dotting our Is, that can go either way. But if we are, if we're behaving and acting like the program that we're gonna act like, then I'm under the understanding that they can come in and revisit that."

But his own AD does not think there's any chance of having the sanctions reduced for good behavior:

"Certainly the NCAA has the right to reopen the consent," Penn State acting athletic director Dave Joyner said. "I think the feeling is that's if we don't do things correctly. It's never been said they'll reopen it if we're doing a really good job. Not being an attorney, I can't say if they're willing to do that or not."

Since when did it become optional to be "crossing our Ts and dotting our Is," to the point that when you do it you get some sort of bonus?

I am getting the sense that he's right, though, that sanctions will be revisited somewhere along the way. Maybe not quite the way Brillo O'Bobbypin is imagining, though.

Does this guy not seriously understand that he's going to have no offensive line talent or depth in front of him for his entire career? It's hard to rack up first round numbers from your back. Somebody needs to talk some sense into him.

How could Silas desert his teammates and university.. Reply

in their time of greatest need? Isn't that like deserting your country during war and fleeing to the other side? Spin it any way you want but he has been in the same foxhole as these guys for 3 years or so fighting.

[Sarcasm]You'll be on tv and be coached like you are Tom Brady. Forget about the rape of young boys. [/Sarcasm]

You have your opinions, I have mine.
