In a phone interview Friday from Florida, president-designate Eric Barron found several different ways to deflect questions about divisions among alumni and others in the university community over the NCAA penalties against the football program, the treatment of Joe Paterno and the structure and role of the board of trustees.

I believe an careful examination of the people behind that site will prove you correct. There is definitely a lean in their walk, even on just a casual review. Something more thorough is bound to uncover more.

And according to BWI, Crazy Joe Lubrano has his own slate of three candidates for the board (sadly the swing dancer is not among them) that is expected to roll to election. The Cult of Joesus IS the Penn State alumni association.

It's pretty clear that Franklin is an out-and-out cultist who'll continually carry the cross for Joesus. Probably sees it as some sort of a hedge against performance. The guy's douche meter was running high all the way back at Vanderbilt, so this shouldn't be surprising. What'll be nice to see is if the new President tries to reign in the nonsense and ends up at war with the football coach. That would be entertaining.

Eh...he was Pres at FSU. He knows what's important in the football vs what a college is actually for debate, and it's not the book learnin.

The problem with that is why did he leave FSU for PSU then, given that the BoT (other than the tiny Lubrano faction) don't want that? Unless he blatantly lied to them, why would Erickson and that board hire somebody who would undo everything they've fought for the last couple of years? Until proven otherwise, my hunch is that he knew that he couldn't make a stand against football at FSU and bailed for the first job that came along after the Winston case. He was willing to deal with the cult in order to get away from FSU.

I suspect that he's simply a cult appeaser, as opposed to an "out-and-out cultist" (i.e., a true believer), but we're just differing on semantics, right??

Bubba O'Buttchin sounded like a founding member of the Pedterno Cult his first couple of months. Let's see how a man with an ego the size of Franklin's deals with having every failure and every success compared with a dead pedophile-enabler and see where it goes from there first...

As for the new President - after they couldn't secure that Medical school President, I'm certain the Ped State search committee recommended they open the checkbook and sign someone from a well-known university. Who knows? Maybe the new President will cull out the infection and set them pedsters straight. I doubt it, but it's possible.

He also spent much of his career on the ped aggy faculty. I think there is a damned good chance that he spent twenty years observing how JoePed ran that university under his right thumb and the growth of the Joesus cult of personality and jumped at the chance to return home and undo the damage with the backing of the board. For every faculty member who bought into the cult, I'm sure that there were a dozen that quietly seethed about it but didn't speak out for fear of getting run like that VP did. He also bailed on FSU fairly early (3 years, I believe) and unexpectedly in his tenure, which adds to my argument that he wanted out after the Winston crap.

The alternative is that he blatantly lied to Erickson and BoT and is coming back to restore JoePed's legacy. A cultist mole......the Tug Speedwell of university presidents if you will. I'm not saying it's impossible. The cult has pulled stranger shit than this, but I think it--lacking any concrete moves in that direction--is implausible.
