Responsibilities include: providing direct coaching and instruction, scouting, evaluating and recruiting of student athletes. This candidate should possess established leadership/mentor role among student-athletes and other supportive staff while promoting sportsmanship and responsible behavior both during and outside of athletic competition; serves as a positive, inspirational leader for the football program, athletics department, and University. Candidate should embrace diversity and demonstrate inclusion; maintain commitment to departmental engagement, including collaborative interaction with athletics staff and coaches. The position requires creating establishment and maintenance of effective relationships within the athletics department, the University, community, Nittany Lion Club, booster clubs, alumni, high school coaches, media and the general public. Candidate must engage in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes and is responsible for the program's compliance with University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA regulations. The Intercollegiate Athletic Department is committed to hiring a diverse staff and actively encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree plus four years of work related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of four years successful coaching experience at the Division I-A level, desired. Proven organizational, evaluation, administrative, and communication skills; a demonstrated ability to work well under pressure; and knowledge of NCAA regulations also preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
