If you think about this, it really ended up better than anyone could have imagined. Hell, I would have been happy just for him to quietly bail on the cult, but the whole "Paterno People" interview surfacing on the very day he hits the eject button just really takes the whole damned thing to 11. O'Brien has always seemed like a classy guy caught between the frustrations of the sanctions and the nightmare of having to bow down to the ghost of JoePed to appease the cult, so I guess he'll just try and keep his mouth shut and move on. My hope though is that in about six months--particularly if the cult is threatening his family or harassing him--that he just fucking unloads to some newspaper reporter in Houston.
Also, I'm sure that any candidate who doesn't come from within the Paterno Cult will want to have a private conversation with him before accepting the job.
