Joe Paterno knew this year was his last before it even started. He was arranging with Urban Meyer to take over the program because it would have almost assuredly allowed Jay to keep coaching here. Really...it was almost set in stone before the BOT went on their firing rampage. Once Paterno was fired, all influence he had to bring Meyer in was gone and so Meyer...who had remained silent all year to reserve his spot....was given an easy decision: Go back to OSU.

Meyer was never going to Ped State. However, knowing how these people think, I don't think there's much in the way of convincing them otherwise. No evidence and not even a statement of fact from Meyer would convince them otherwise.
