Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

USC won 7 games this year with a roster stocked with young, big time talent.
Ped State has just a few big time guys. Any injuries or problems will devastate them. There will be a big drop off at QB next year.

They also have Lane Kiffin, who could fuck up chicken wings. All indications are that Broslov O'Blaflinsky can actually coach.

Muck beat me to it, but never underestimate the ineptitude of the Kiffster.

Delaney thinks Ped State bailing for the ACC is a real possibility according to Barry Alvarez. I think the Ped State alumni could push for leaving for a "clean start". At least in their minds...
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/182573751.html

I could see a scenario where...
A. Ped State bolts for the ACC.
B. Biased Penn court dismisses the cases against all 3 of the PSU administration. Thereby getting JoPa off the hook by laying it all on Sandusky. The statue comes out of mothballs.
C. Ped State goes to court against the NCAA to fight the "illegal" sanctions.

Maybe we should make the exit fee 50 million

We don't need to. They signed over all of their Tier 1 media rights to the BTN through the mid 2020s. Their "exit fee" to buy back their media rights would be gargantuan (I always loved the word but so rarely get the chance to use it in a sense.....gargantuan).

I think ped aggy running with its tail between its legs for some crappy ACC-Big East hybrid that will be standing when Delaney gets done with it only because they never could win in the Big Ten would destroy that program.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Letting those assholes out now gets them exactly what they want. Easier schedules, verifies in their minds the whole B1G conspiracy, etc.

True, and I wish that Alvarez would just shut his fucking mouth already. There isn't a single reason in the world to let the cult for one moment think that we were worried about them leaving or that they might have the slightest bit of leverage.

That being said, I have to imagine that the faculty would revolt were they to pull out of the CIC because a bunch of football obsessed alumni want to leave the Big Ten.

Penn State has been successful for a long time and is very well funded.
." Penn State is a big, rich school. The last statistics I have say that their general funds are $1.88 billion."
The football program and JoPa are their "identity" and any attack on those things is viewed as an attack on their very makeup.
They will not let it go. There is no "moving on" for them. I'm betting they make a move. Perhaps to the ACC where they can exercise their power. Reclaim their "identity" as "Beast of the East".
Delaney's spinning is just an attempt to put a good face on what is coming.

For fucks sake people that is NOT what Barry Alvarez said.

Speaking Friday to the Wisconsin athletic board, Alvarez said Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany wanted to add teams in the Northeast to ensure Penn State would remain in the conference.

"Jim felt that someday, if we didn't have anyone else in that corridor, someday it wouldn't make sense maybe for Penn State to be in our league," Alvarez told the board, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That they would go into a league somewhere on the East Coast. By doing that, it keeps us in the Northeast corridor."
