Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Delaney thinks Ped State bailing for the ACC is a real possibility according to Barry Alvarez. I think the Ped State alumni could push for leaving for a "clean start". At least in their minds...

I could see a scenario where...
A. Ped State bolts for the ACC.
B. Biased Penn court dismisses the cases against all 3 of the PSU administration. Thereby getting JoPa off the hook by laying it all on Sandusky. The statue comes out of mothballs.
C. Ped State goes to court against the NCAA to fight the "illegal" sanctions.

ummm wow Taos, way to be on top of the news stories that came out 4 days ago....

True, and I wish that Alvarez would just shut his fucking mouth already. There isn't a single reason in the world to let the cult for one moment think that we were worried about them leaving or that they might have the slightest bit of leverage.

That being said, I have to imagine that the faculty would revolt were they to pull out of the CIC because a bunch of football obsessed alumni want to leave the Big Ten.

I think you're giving the Pedster faculty wayyyy too much credit. most of them are cultists as well.

Thanks zinc, there's the entire thing in context floating around somewhere as well.

Barry wasn't saying that PSU is looking to bolt, he was talking about the long term...as in 50 years from now.

Barry was being diplomatic. He's smart enough not to go into the possibilities of what Ped State may or may not do. That would get him in hot water with Delaney.
We all have read enough of the BWI boards by now to get a feel on how this is trending. Ped State leaving is a very real possibility. They have the money and motivation to do as they feel would be best for restoring the football legacy.

The Penn legal system with many PSU alumni and football cultists will do all they can to restore the football legacy and program.

They believe leaving the Big is the right start to that.

I'm skeptical that the folks on BWI are capable of providing trendlines as to what anyone with actual decision-making authority is thinking. In other words, I don't think the fact that people on PSU internet message boards bitch about the BigTen means squat.

Some kooks on a message board, half of whom are trolls created by BP'ers, including myself, are not driving the decision making process at PSU. Although I would love to help drive them into a shit conference.

When Barry has discussed expansion over the past few years he has never been diplomatic. 'Unfiltered' is a more accurate term for much of what he has said.

Penn State isn't going anywhere.

Here's my take. In recent years, Penn State has made some good strides in improving its research output in a number of domains. In business, they are globally-respected for rigorous work, such as in the domain of marketing engineering. They have some very good scholars.

I don't think that the University is going to throw a bunch of cash into getting out of the B1G, especially now that they will be surrounded by B1G schools. It's a very tough market today and donors don't spend what they did a decade ago. There is already enough trouble without making things worse.

If Penn State administrators were thinking about bolting, my guess is that the deal with Rutgers and the threat of continued expansion will pull them back in.

Fuck that! :pissed:

I understand I'm supposed to put on my bean counter hat for this, but fuck PedState. My humanity overrules my desire to see the B1G make more money. Fuck them. PSU vs. Villanova 12 weeks in a row sounds like a great deal for all involved...
