Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I'm not the least bit surprised. That program is so wrapped up in their "Paterno identity", that there was no way they were going to make a total break. It's actually a smart move, recruiting-wise, for them. Johnson has a ton of ties where they recruit, and this prevents them from having to totally reestablish themselves with HS coaches/programs.

I dont understand how the Ped State Admin could keep Coach Vandy, and Coach LJ who have more than 27 combined years at the school. Theyre making a huge assumption that these guys didnt know ANYTHING....
They certainly risk becoming the butt of many jokes.

I agree. I'm willing to bet that within a year of the trial being over, they'll quietly start relicensing all the JoePa t-shirts and shit.
Suffer the little children who get one of these ...

Re: All you need to know about this hire...

OSU trolls have always been fearful of PSU. (read on trolls, even though your head is exploding)

PSU is the only school in the Big Ten that doesn't kiss your butt, worship your traditions (the "game", or the Granddaddy if them all, or CO championships). PSU is the only team that challenged OSU during the JT run. PSU won in Columbus this year; SCOREBOARD. Deep inside OSU trolls know that they have developed expectations for Urban that can't be met. OSU trolls see O'Brien schooling players on the sideline and demonstrating no nonsense leadership, and think uh-oh, this guy is serious as a heart attack. Oh yes, there is plenty of fear, plenty of nervousness evident in the trolling.

Excuse me, but wasn't Ped Aggy 2-8 against JT, including a couple of deep plunger rapes.

I saw O'Brien throwing a tantrum at a first ballot HOF quarterback when he should have been fetching him an icy cool cup of gatorade and thanking him for looking halfway competent.

Oh, it gets better than that. I see a number of people on their boards claiming Brady has "blossomed" under his tutelage. I was unaware that he coached in NE from 2001-04. Therefor, they will have record setting QBs starting next season. Disregard the fact that their current QBs are a walkon that got his ass kicked by a slot dot, a guy who struggles to complete 40% of his passes, and another guy that can't stay academically eligible (and has never thrown a college pass as far as I know). They are also claiming he is the "architect" of their (NE) current offense...again ignoring the fact that the current offense they run, and have been running for 4-5 years, was developed and implemented by Josh McDaniel. This is all eerily similar to the scUM boards circa Dec '07/Jan '08 (minus the groovy catchphrases).

On Friday, they were all quite aware that the decision had already been made to terminate him at the end of the year and that his agent had first approached other NFL teams about OC positions before accepting the Ped Aggy job. Apparently, everything has now been washed down the memory hole.

They can't accept that this was both a) a horribly mediocre hire and b) was the best they could hope to attract to that toxic train wreck of a program.

Wasn't it a "Johnson" that got them into this mess?

I think Johnson was the bone they threw to Short, Arrington and any other former players that were against the hire. Too much of a coincidence that the guy kept on was their position coach.

So much for their "clean break" and "deemphasis on football." It was more like, a clean break up to the point that it becomes expedient not to.

Respectfully disagree. This was surely more about recruiting class continuity. The commits were bleeding of the 2012 tally.
Arrington's arrogant dismissal of the hire has next to nothing to do with retaining LJ in Happy Valley.

This though is true. No doubt.

A Johnson got them into trouble... get it? A johnson, Sandusky's Johnson... oh, never mind.

This might become even more apparent if LJ Sr. has a change of heart shortly following NLOID.

Okay, fellas. So I was googling how to make a Hitler parody video... and I stumbled across this one...

Sandusky must have spilled plenty of paint...

You guys just don't get it. At PedState, they're cancer-curing uber intellectuals...real brain trusts. Beyond mere rocket scientists, they are quantum physics in action. Their lives are lived in a vast sea of variables, of worm holes leading to parallel universes and alternate dimensions. Reality is more fluid for them than for common men. What seems to the uninitiated to be gibberish uttered by idiots wallowing in denial, delusion and willful self-deception is, in actuality, a triumphant song heralding a shining new world materializing from the collective soul of Pennsylvania.

Of course to us, the great unwashed, it will all still appear to be just a giant steaming mound of [MarkMay], but what do we know?
