President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer (Board Officers), and Senior Vice President for Finance and Business, and the Corporate Controller (University Officers).

By this definition, I'm seeing that the Board president should be signing this document (Peetz) unless she gave....AHHHHHHHHHHH

So, you guys are saying she probably gave permission to Erickson to sign the document on behalf of the trustees? If so, that's pretty ballsy too.

And to answer the question about dead guy worship - not to step on someone else's beliefs, but we DO worship some guy that walked on water, and fed a multitude with two fish and five loaves of bread.....and he sure as heck isn't buried in Happy Valley, PA...

Not sure how good of a football coach he would have been, though. :biggrin:

Ped Aggy's board has an executive committee, which makes sense given its unwieldy size. The executive committee was aware of the consent decree and authorized Erickson (himself an ex-officio member of the board) to sign the decree.

Lubrano was pissed because the matter was not put before the whole board (i.e. him) and that was what caused the dog and pony show that evening when the full board met to discuss the consent decree.

No, I'm saying that Erickson had and has signatory authority because his position on the board, if nothing else, clearly outlines that he - as University President and Secretary of the Board - has been authorized to sign on behalf of the board/university.

It's in their own by-laws. It may or may not be wise.

Hmm. I still don't belive that's the case, because if so, then the appeal wouldn't have even been filed. But, like you said, it is their bylaws, for them to understand.

Heck, most of us understood that when you have a mass rapist, and a coach and others that did jack about it, still being allowed to get money playing football is a pretty good deal.

Bunch of quacks....in Nikes.

You give people too much credit. Joe Paterno's estate has no standing before the NCAA and that didn't prevent his estate's lawyers from running it up the flag pole.

You don't think Emmert got wind of that statement at the time, and now Lubrano and McCombie are filing nuisance appeals and threatening to pull the ncaa into a legal battle.

I find it very interesting that the ncaa hasn't quickly swatted down these two idiots' appeal as they did with the Paternos. My hunch is that something is going on behind the scenes. Something perhaps along the lines of organizing a conference call with the 18 ncaa directors.

Naw, not credit. Just disbelief that the board of trustees even allowed this new trustee to go this far and even get an appeal considered. This has to be the most chewed up board of trustees I've ever seen.

I'm gonna have to print all this stuff off and take it to our meeting next Tuesday. We think we have it rough at times, but sheesh. These guys are quacks.

As far as the family's appeal, they have no legal standing. The board of trustees are a legal entity for the school, not a bunch of cultist (well, they are, but they're LEGAL cultists) hacks who are holding on to a dead guy's already broken and shattered legacy in the hopes of restoring a good name - which will never happen.

These four board shitheads who think they can appeal are really quite stupid.

First, they don't themselves have authority to act on behalf of the university as they are not a quorum.
Second, 4 out of 32 isn't a yes vote. In other words, the mere fact that 4 Trustees disagree with any particular action is inconsequential.
