I think the B10 sanctions will be simple. No champ game for 4 years and no bowl revenue for 4 years. Just a guess, but I don't think the B10 will be much more punitive other than money sharing.

The scholly reduction is another method of punishment I HATE.... Basically you are screwing some senior walk on who got his head kicked in for the last 4 years a chance at having his last season of football on a scholarship. OR you have a younger guy who was previously on scholarship being shown the door.....

To clear up scholarship penalties: Penn State can bring in 15 new scholarship recruits/year & have 65 total on scholarship for four years

80 total schollies lost over 4 years

You can easily field an 8-9 win team with 65 scholarships.

These penalties are a freaking joke.

No expert but they could start by removing any bowl sharing revenue for PSU over the next 4 years.

Which would hurt them a lot. That + banning them from TV would be significant. No need for them to get kicked out of Big 10.

I know the penalties are not as severe as they could have been, but Penn State football was destroyed today. Absolutely destroyed.

That is how I see it. Between the loss of scholarships and players being allowed to transfer immediately they are hurting. Plus, the rest of the other sports will hurt because of the lost revenue ($60M immediately) and all the reduced revenue over the next few years of suckiness and bowl bans.

Not sure if the Big Ten will do anything else, but I can easily see them saying no share of bowl revenue for at least five years.

I agree, but it make's it harder to recruit with a bowl ban. Honestly you can probably find 15 decent football players a year like Adam Breneman who will want to go to PSU at all costs. They will suffer, but not die. Then they can go out in 3-4 years and pay someone (Nick Saban? LOL) big money and they are right back in the game.
