Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

About 1:24:00 in.

Powlus complains about the noise, hits a big pass to Derrick Mayes, and taunts the crowd. Three plays later he gets picked by Shawn Springs and three plays after that Terry Glenn becomes legend.

Fuck off Regis! There are so many single plays I love but that is one in my top 5 because of the timing of Regis.

Also, that new Bonneville looks nice.

Penn State defensive tackle Fred Hansard was not penalized after pushing Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa to the ground during the third quarter of the Terrapins' home game against the Nittany Lions. The play in question came when Hansard was not in the game, but sent Tagovailoa to the ground when the quarterback ran out of bounds into the Penn State sideline directly past Hansard.

Tagovailoa was seen in pain on the ground after in the immediate aftermath of the incident. The quarterback continued in the game despite the frightening moment.

Is it worse too boo injured players or intentionally create injured players?

I wonder if coach Franklin will bring this one up to anyone who will listen well into the middle of next week?

No worries - Penn State is the victim, here.

Nothing that our players did, even Hansard's push, could be as classless, selfish and unsportsmanlike than not shaking hands with team. F the Twerps.

In case you forget, this is in reference to a game 7 years ago when Maryland did not shake hands before the game.

Back to the BWI thread, to be fair, most posters agree that the hit by the player not even in the game should be addressed. I think one guy said that the hit wasn't as bad as it looked, and a couple of people joked that he was just defending himself (at least, I'm reading it as a joke).

https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/snap-infraction.309212/

This thread started about the "snap infraction" that Ohio State was penalized for. The conversation evolved into officials helping Ohio State a million times over the years. Eventually it gets to talking about the lineman who pushed the Maryland quarterback when he's already out of bounds.

Just curious where you weigh in on the sideline pushing to the ground opposing players? Or the 2 unsportsmanlike conduct on a single play? Are these examples of your "Success with honor" ?

Love the "ours doesn't stink" proponents.

Response:
They are not examples of "Success with Honor" and some type of discipline is in order. Generally, the team members do not have the same level of personal accountability they once had and that is reflected on the field in level of performance. Hence, we have these sorts of incidents.

The way I read that, Paterno had a better control of his players. They didn't act like jerkbags on the field.
It took me about 10 seconds to find this. Watch the very first play.

Watch the second play, too.

I like to keep on top of their running list of made up bullshit they think went against them. Does anybody know when the snap infraction or bounced pass happened? Not that I doubt their version of events or anything. I'm sure they're all certified referees and all that.

I want to say there was either two in the second quarter, or one in the 1st and one in the 2nd.

I’ve seen replay of the one they seem to be complaining about most and the center lost control of the ball at the exact moment he went to snap it. Looked pretty clear it was a snap infraction vs a fumbled snap.

They have two bounce passes that I am aware of. 2003 and 2014.

I'm also pretty sure they have a legit beef on those. I know for sure the 2003 pass was incomplete. It was a pass to the TE. 2014 was on an interecption I believe and they really go nuts because replay wasn't working and it didn't get reviewed. Now mind you it was early in the game but they reduce teh whole game down to that one play and scream about being cheated (page 1 of their playbook).

The snap infraction is whining because they don't know the rule. I just saw it happen in another game this weekend (can't remember which, maybe UC?). They want it to be a fumble and it's not. It was called and applied correctly.

I think there is another bounce pass this game they were whining about. Only one I can think of was to the middle of the field to Ruckert or something that it looked like the ball might have moved when he hit the ground.

Yeah they're saying we're up to bounce pass #3.

I don't know what #3 is. I know #1 was to Ben Hartsock. I've tried finding it and the only one I found was a short pass to Hartsock on the go-ahead drive. The pass is low, but with 2003 standard definition, I don't see definitive evidence that it hits the ground. To be fair, I don't really need to dissect the video. It's like TTUN fans whining about the missed field goal in 1974 - the only video I've ever seen makes it impossible to see. I have to rely on the call on the field and the countless people sitting behind the goalposts (several of whom are regulars here - cheers to you guys). The bounce pass was obvious to everyone, according to the cult, and the referees were either corrupt or terrible.

#2 must be the 2014 interception. Beautiful. 2014 also had the field goal attempt 12 seconds after the playclock hit 00 seconds. Maybe they aren't up to 12 seconds, but each time they whine about it, it seems to increase. They have a point with it, but I think we've all seen evidence of this happening and not being called.

The snap infraction they're complaining about was at the end of the first quarter this year. It took me a long time to find it. Then I found it and the announcers (of course, to them, Herbie is a Buckeye homer and has direct communication with the referees, so that might be part of them) all agreed that it was called a penalty correctly. Some (not all) also whine about the scoop n' score by Cage - they think Clifford's arm was moving forward and it should have been an incomplete pass. They also whine about the penalty for late hit on... was it Wilson? The one that I thought was textbook "targeting" was called a late hit. They think that should have been no penalty. I think I saw one guy on BWI complain about the fumble by Henderson that was a scoop n' score the other way. Yeah - the low screen pass that Henderson reached out and tapped with one hand... the ball bounced twice and their guy picked it up and ran for a touchdown. The officials said the ruling on the field was an incomplete pass. A couple of guys thought that was wrong. I have to believe those guys are trolls, though. Personally, I think it should have been delay of game on the defense. Or at least make Penn State call a time out for that.

It'd be fun to come up with a list of all the games Penn State thinks they got robbed. Since joining the Big Ten, Ohio State is 41.5 wins ahead of Penn State in the win column (ties count as a half win). Can we "correct" those Penn State losses and get them to pass Ohio State? I bet we could.
