Yep. Healthy as shit, yet he had multiple deferments. He cynically sent someone from the studio to file for them so he could keep his hands clean. He knew the Hollywood A list (Stewart, Gable etc) was off to the war, and he knew that if he stayed behind he could take their place. Remember that before the war, he was a complete C lister who did the one hour matinee westerns that the movie houses would show in the afternoon. Contrast that with Sinatra who was legit 4F due to a punctured ear drum yet drove around to every induction center in New York and Northern New Jersey trying to enlist. John Wayne was the epitome of chickenhawk shit.

My younger brother got shot trying to rob a liquor store. So, I'm going to watch your younger brother like a hawk and yell at you when he also tries to rob a liquor store. Okay, so none of that is true. The last I heard, my brothers are alive and well and they pay for their liquor and they're good guys. But my point is that after Penn State's glass house got destroyed by people throwing rocks, I guess they have nothing to lose, so they might as well throw rocks at anyone they can find.

I know there's other scandals that are arguably worse, but it does hit different when they guy is still there. Joe was still head coach. Sandusky was still running around campus and the football facilities. Bo hasn't been head coach in 32 years and has been dead for 15. The accused has been dead for 13. And no one in Ann Arbor has tipped over a news van to protest removing Bo's statue, as far as I know.

ugh.....I'd almost forgotten about the bullshit aww shucks stories the old man crafted about himself. oh he hated the recognition....he didn't like the statue! his salary was so small compared to his peers.....he wanted to give back to the university!!! he's such a friendly old grandpa....he doesn't even know what email is!!!!
