Most important person in University history = Paterno.
Because Joe didn’t have anything to prove in ‘87, ‘88, etc. this was true throughout his final 20-25 years. When he felt he had something to prove there were some special seasons. When he didn't, we saw what that was like
So, he wasn't really trying in 1987 and 1988. Why bother? He already had his awesome seasons, so why bother trying, anymore? In 2005, Penn State was coming off a 3-9 season, from what I remember. "Uh oh. I better start trying, again." So Paterno comes out with a 12-1 season. Or was that 11-1? Either way, they were #3. Then, he had a couple more years where he didn't have to try, so in 2008, he decided to try again. Big Ten Championship...
Maybe they have a point. Sandusky continued to run around on campus because Joe Paterno was never pressured into trying to stop him.
Who has ever heard of rape and a man before?Exactly. Everyone knows Joesus could have easily won the B1G, if not the NC every year he was there. And seriously, what fun would that have been? He intentionally threw some down years in there to teach his players a lesson. Losing every now and then only makes you appreciate the winning that much more. It was all part of his Success with Honor master plan. Plus, if he would have won all those championships, he might have been forced to take a bigger salary and gotten more recognition and respect outside of Happy Valley - and we all know how much he hated that. Who knows, he might have even had time to learn what email or child molestation was.

I didn't see it in a skim of that thread, but the possessiveness they have of the whiteout is absolutely ridiculous. They act like they invented in in the early 2000s when we were doing "blue outs" or "gold outs" at my high school in the late 90s and the Winnipeg Jets have been doing it since the early 80s.https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/auburn-game-7-30-start-whiteout-time.295623/
I still laugh at the "let's all wear the same thing" idea.
And then someone suggests saving the Whiteout for Indiana.
"NO! We aren't wasting our Whiteout for Indiana!"
"Well let's not do a Whiteout for Michigan - that'll just piss them off!! hee hee hee!"
