Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

2006 may have been the year they were fucking around with clock rules to try and shorten the game. Part of that fucking around, as I recall, was that the game clock and play clock would start after a kick upon the spotting of the ball.

They also messed with starting the clock after an OB play or some such thing iirc.

edit: wait......why was the clock running before that play? that play was immediately after the recovery of the onside kick.

That may have been during the time when the clock started at the moment of the kickoff and it didn't stop until the next play. Maybe I'm remembering that terrible rule incorrectly. I'm glad they fixed it.

I don't fault the running back much. He's an offensive player and his job is to score points. If I'm a head coach and my player isn't trying to score, he's not going to play very much. The kneel-down play is probably the only one I want them to not score. In this situation, it'd be better to not score, so I think that I (the head coach) need to pull him aside and tell him specifically to not score. And, like you said, don't fumble.

I put the loss on the Penn State defense. YOU were the ones who let Indiana drive 75 yards in under 2 minutes. YOU were the ones who gave up the touchdown. YOU were the ones who gave up the 2-point conversion. And even with the gift kickoff, your offense couldn't get into position to make the field goal. Then YOU were the ones who gave up the touchdown in overtime, and YOU were the ones who let Penix get close enough to the pylon to even make the controversial play.

This game is another classic game for me. Penn State lost to Indiana, and all the fingers point at them for the loss. But that will never ever stop them from pointing at the referees.

STOCK UP/DOWN: OHIO STATE'S RECEIVER DUO, QUARTERBACK SNEAKS WORKING, TWO-HEADED RUNNING BACK ROTATION

STOCK DOWN

PENN STATE

Imagine being a Nittany Lions fan right now.

Your best player (Micah Parsons) opted out before the season. You recently learned your best offensive player (Journey Brown) might be lost for the season with an undisclosed injury. You just lost in overtime to Indiana on a heartbreaker to start out the season on the worst note possible. You’re staring down a primetime, under-the-lights Week 2 matchup on ABC with Ohio State – otherwise known as Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State! – that threatens to have your team opening the year with two losses for the first time since 2012.

Oh, and you can’t even really point to the future with an abundance of optimism considering Penn State’s 2021 recruiting class is ranked in the bottom half of the Big Ten and features exactly zero of Pennsylvania’s top-10 prospects.

Tough times in Happy Valley right now. On Saturday, if things go the Buckeyes’ way, it could get even worse.

Funny thread. Kind of the opposite of BP's "Thread of tearful goodbyes", or whatever it was.
https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threa...e-not-happy-with-where-the-program-is.280262/

First dude says, "I haven't posted here in a long time because I'm tired of being called names."
Second dude must have said something pretty bad, because it's just gone. And the first dude responds with calling the dude names.
Then some "I agree" and some "I disagree" comments.
Eventually, it degrades to the first dude whining because some people disagree with him. I get the feeling the guy is not ready to be out on his own on the internet.

PSU's class being ranked #8 in the BigTen is partly due to their class being small right now. But even if you look at average composite score per-player, they're #4 behind Wisconsin, and barely ahead of Iowa.

Right now, the difference between OSU and Penn State, in 2021 average composite score per committed player, is much bigger than the difference between Penn State and Rutgers (OSU - PSU = 5.76; PSU - RU = 3.42), and is effectively identical to the difference between Penn State and Temple (5.75).
