Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

1998- Sandusky asked for access to training and workout facilities. Paterno put a check mark next to that request to deny that request. In a sidebar, Paterno asked if this was for Sandusky's personal use, or for Second Mile kids, and indicated that due to liability problems, facility access should not be extended to Second Mile kids.

Uh huh. Right. Joe was just extra cautious 'cause you never know when one of those darn kids might carelessly slip in the shower and sprain an ankle...or the lower terminus of his alimentary canal.

There are 2 claims of abuse in the 1970’s but neither falls into the way Jerry Sandusky was to have victimized the boys
Sandusky victimizing acts according to testimony from his reported victims:
1. Never victimized a female.
2. Never victimized a minor male in the presence of a minor female.
3. Never overtly victimized a minor male in the presence of other minor males.
4. Never overtly victimized a minor male in the (known) presence of other adults.
5. Never victimized a stranger.
6. Never used violence to force himself on a minor male.
7. Never provided victims with drugs or alcohol in the commission of his crimes

Oh, well, since you put it that way...shoot! Release the poor guy. Hell, he's practically a candidate for sainthood.

I love that Mike McQueary's testimony can't be trusted 10+ years later because it doesn't match Doctor Whatshisname's testimony 10+ years later. So the guy who was there - his testimony isn't as important as the guy who talked to the guy who was there.

I'd love to hear one of their explanations for what happens after their version of Paterno not going to the police after passing it along to his "bosses".

An intern or grad assistant or whatever he was came to you and said he saw a kid getting diddled. You supposedly told your bosses. Then what? Either the GA was telling the truth and you should have stepped in at some point and said "hey what ever happened with that Sandusky in the shower story"......or the GA was lying. To believe their version.....McQueary was lying. So you not only kept the person who lied about somebody molesting children on staff.....but you promoted him to the job of WR coach and recruiting coordinator.

Yeah. That makes sense.

The way the Cult gets around your question is by pointing out that Joesus was completely powerless to do anything beyond notify his superior on the organizational chart. One of BWI's famous memes is when someone will post a link to a story about some random getting fired for going outside the organizational chart.

The quoted post from the thread about the faculty backing the student editorial in the Daily Collegian is the standard response for Joesus did everything he could have done and it was the incompetent bastards above him that screwed up the incident. Take special note to the poster pointing out that he "could not live with myself" if he reported a pedophile outside the org. chart and it allowed the pedophile to continue his horseplay. Meanwhile, no hearts were broken that a real-life pedophile was allowed to roam free because the police were never contacted.

YYZ86: "This is dead horse territory. As a mandatory reporter myself, I can tell you that I have been trained to do exactly what Joe did. Anything more than that could compromise the investigation. But a lot of you claim otherwise. I have no idea what he was told by McQueary but that doesn't matter either. He should report what he was told. If he does not follow procedure, he could endanger the case. This is according to experts who have trained me that have far more experience than I do. I trust their judgment. People bring up the morality clause. I could not live with myself if I broke protocol and a pedophile falls through the cracks due to my actions. That outcome is never possible to some which is a huge blind spot. Another poster on here before has challenged everyone to find an expert who feels Paterno should have broken procedures and call the police. He said you will not find one. He is right."

Oh...wait. The police were contacted. :mad2:

Oblivax: "he did call the police.....Schultz was the police."

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure organizations teach not to go outside the established procedure for liability reasons, not because it will mess up an investigation.

A call from someone about child abuse within an organization will help bring the child abuser to justice and likely get the organization sued.

This also ignores the "we planned to report to child services, but after talking to coach again, we decided not to" email.

If we had a time machine to go back to BWI in 2010.... the chat about how Joe controlled everything and how he ruled with an Iron fist sure would be a tad different then today... I remember stories about Joe yelling at folks on campus for simple traffic infractions. If Joe really cared about the kids as much as the football program, he would have dragged Jerry by the ears from police station to police station till somebody was arrested. But no.... Joe was helpless from allowing Jerry to bring kids on bowl game trips....

I've seen that before....and it still doesn't answer the question. OK....so he did everything he was capable of (yeah right). A month goes by. Three months. A year. Nothing ever comes of it. He sees Sandusky still roaming around....sometimes with a Second Mile kid, sometimes not. Let's even pretend he assumes that what he was told about the shower must not have actually happened.

THEN GO TO MCQUEARY AND DEMAND TO KNOW WHY HE LIED TO YOU AND THEN FIRE HIS ASS.

Oh.....I forgot. He was just a simple ol football coach. He didn't have the power to fire grad assistants.

And the "Schultz was the police" is a bunch of bullshit. He was the VP for finance, and somewhere beneath him on an organizational flow chart was a box that said "University Police." He was not the "head of the police department" and had never in his entire life been a law enforcement officer on any level.

I propose a fundraiser for abused children. Here is my idea, we start a kickstarter campaign to raise $10,000. After this is achieved, we let BuckeyeNation27 and members of the BWI board in an online chat room together and watch things fly for a while.

Go to buckeyeplanet, and "Ped Staters are all cultists" talk is rampant, among a bunch of fans who generally are convinced Jim Tressel did nothing at all wrong and seem to derive 100% of their life's joy out of Buckeye football.

buckeyeplanet --- that is another planet. And not of this solar system.
Apparently Michnittlion doesn't have the balls to post on BuckeyePlanet. Typical.
