Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Well to be fair, there is a 3rd possibility. Perhaps he did ask what happened and got some answer that said, "uh, yeah coach, nothing turned up on our search."

Granted there is more water under the bridge after that, but I suppose that could have happened.
At which point you go to McQueary and say.....hey, you lied to me. You don't promote him to head of recruiting.
(And no....I'm not implying that there was any kind of bribing going on here.....I'm implying he knew exactly what Sandusky was doing and just went on business as usual anyways.)

All this is just minutia to me.

There is no way in hell that multiple allegations and investigations (insurance investigators, lawyers deposing witness, actual law enforcement) centered on the same guy and the same kind of accusations happened from the '70's-early '00s in that sized town involving a guy on Paterno's staff and he didn't know about it.

It's impossible.

Maybe all his focus was on keeping college football out of the hands of the Sherrills and Switzers of the world.

Seriously, what a sanctimonious fucking con man that guy was.

Forde-Yard Dash: Coaches in a dream situation living a nightmare
Pat Forde

...

James Franklin (6), Penn State. The biggest issue is off the field, and it may be more a case of Franklin being worn out by it than Penn State being worn out with him. (Though at 16-13, nobody in Happy Valley is turning cartwheels.) The ongoing obsession in some quarters with attempting to restore honor to Joe Paterno simply serves to keep an uncomfortable storyline alive during a time when Franklin is desperately trying to move the football program forward. For the faction that wants Paterno deity status returned at the expense of the present-day team, congratulations. It’s working.

I think that's a pretty lame excuse. Penn State isn't good because James Franklin isn't a good coach... and an unmitigated douchebag.

I think Franklin actually is a good coach who was dealt the worst hand in the sanctions since he inherited a pro-style team with a statue at QB and like 6 scholarship OL.

Yeah, he's also a giant douchebag. It is known.

The point Forde makes is fair. Every interview with Franklin he's grilled about what the BOT and the fans think about Paterno, and it's pretty clear he's exasperated hearing it. I imagine he'd rather spend his week talking about Saquon Barkley's 5.1ypc and 6tds instead of a fucking statue and the name of the library.

To his point, it's pretty much why BoB left as fast as he did and took shots at the cult on the way out.

Oh! Oh!

*waves arm wildly in air*

I have a solution! Make Franco the coach. He'll be ecstatic to discuss any and all things Pedterno. No conflict there at all.
