Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I definitely think that the pedsters should play Pitt every year. I know that they came into the Big Ten thinking that they'd become the biggest game on everybody's schedule, and Ohio State-Michigan would be relegated to a sideshow. So, how's that worked out for them? They need a rival, and I think an in-state school with a recent track record of around .500 makes perfect sense for them. They'll never be our rival. They'll never be Michigan's rival. They'll never be the rival of a Sparty, Wiscy, Iowa or Corn that might be in contention for Big Ten championships. Let them have an annual out-of-conference rivalry with Pitt.

I don't care if they have a rival - out-of-conference or not. I just like reading the posts whining about playing Pitt - especially if they lose.
I don't care if they play West Virginia, either. Of course, BN27 is right in that it would give them 6 away games half of the time (when their conference schedule gives them 4 home, 5 away games), and I'd hope no one could ever be hired as an AD at Penn State or anywhere if they're willing to do that.
I don't see Pitt becoming an annual rival, either. 3 OOC games. Probably only 1 of those will be a H/A series. Asking them to use that 1 H/A series on Pitt every year is asking a lot.

I'd just like to take this opportunity for anybody who read this:

and thinks ORD is being a little hyperbolic. He's not. They honest to god thought this.

Andy while trolling around BWI I found this gem - worth the read (BWI has a thread started but no comments yet, but I'm sure they're coming):

The Paterno-Cosby connection (column)
. . .
Yet others have suggested that Penn State honoring Paterno is akin to Temple honoring its most illustrious alum, Bill Cosby – pointing out the coincidence that the commemoration will come before a game against a school that has had its problem with one of its legends. In this context, "illustrious" means "notorious," or "creepy."

1. I like how they take a very clear question (Will we ever be a #1 team?) and find a way to argue over what that question means. Specifically, they begin arguing over whether and when they will be in the top 25.
2. Of course, most answers revolve around whether they're willing to cheat. There is no #1 without cheating.
3. This post has me confused:
Can remember years ago a PSU team went to the shoe and Shut Out that's right "Shut Out" #1 Ohio State
What the hell is Willis talking about? They beat Ohio State twice in Columbus since joining the Big Ten: 2008 and 2011. Neither was a shut-out and neither had Ohio State #1.
Ok - so I checked Wikipedia. Stupid Wikipedia has an article on the Ohio State-Penn State "rivalry". Blech. Anyway, in 1964, Ohio State was #2 and Penn State won 27-0. Maybe Ohio State was #1 in another poll? Oh well.

Impossible. Joe Paterno didn't invent football until 1966.

Is this a joke? They can't even sustain success in the conference...3 B1G titles in 23 years, lol...

Even in '94 when they accidentally went undefeated they weren't a #1 team and the National Championship was awarded accordingly...

Maybe if they go back to being an independent and playing against shit competition every week like they did before joining the B1G, they could add to their "legacy"

A great season is always when we flat out baboon fuck them and Michigan beats them on questionable calls. Good times.

What year was it when Penn State went for the onside kick and Jesse James was offsides? That was a beautiful game. A big pile of fail on both sides, with Michigan barely winning. They probably felt dirty just for getting that win - kinda like their 3-OT win against Illinois. And Penn State found that camera angle from a camera in Toledo that showed James still onsides, so they decided they could whine about it.
