Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

So... the Big Ten officials are the reason you can't be rivals with us?

Dang - I need a BWI account. I doubt I'd be controlled enough to not get banned.
My response:
Ah yes, the old "B1G refs are out to get us" paranoid conspiracy theory. Never mind the fact that six of the eight games to which you refer were played in Columbus and thus with B1G refs, or the fact that the one game of those eight which we played at your place--with Joe Pa's hand-picked refs--we won. What's your excuse for being only 13-12 against a mediocre B1G program like Iowa (13-12 all-time, and 7-9 in the B1G)?

Fairgambit:"Yep. I was going to respond further to the guy comparing OSU and Penn State football in terms of academics (there is no comparison, we are superior)"
Above is an example of pedster FAX!!!

Below are the real facts and reasons he really didn't want to respond with academic smack talk:

APR Football 2014: OSU/972 pedU/954

Football Academic AA 2014: OSU/1 pedU/0

State College is like... Imagine getting rid of Columbus, and replacing it with Wooster, Ohio. Or Bellbrook. Then, to drive to Columbus, most people are coming from Cleveland or Cincinnati. You can't drive faster than 20 miles per hour. 100-120 miles at 20 mph. Yeah, you can drive faster than 20mph in Pennsylvania, but the roads are winding around more mountains, and there's farther to go. And there's nothing to do when you get there.

Ever been to Athens or Oxford?

Ever been to Athens or Oxford?

I've never spent much time in either, but I have been to each.

Never been to Oxford, but at least Athens is pretty.

Oxford is pretty, too. At least, the parts I saw in my very limited stays. ("Driving through" might be a better description of what I did.)

I think that the difference between Athens & Oxford and State College is that no one claims that Athens or Oxford is a center of anything great. I'd suppose that the students and faculty enjoy the respective universities, which is fine. But Penn State fans think of State College as the Holy Mecca. You ain't nothin' if you haven't made your pilgrimage, yet, this year. Maybe Miami and Ohio alumni are the same. But, really, they're just Miami and Ohio alumni, and if they're thumping their chests about anything, I've found it pretty easy to ignore them. Penn State fans have shown that they a "we're better than you, even if we can't find a way to prove it" disorder, and I can't seem to stop watching the same train wreck. Maybe the wreck is ongoing? Maybe it will continue until the train has realized that it has wrecked.

Met many Fredoites? They are as delusional about their college as any group in the country including the pedsters and aggy. Ohio U academics, Texas A&M indoctrination and SMU social homogeneity all wrapped up in Michigan arrogance.

Here's just one little gem. Myth: they refer to themselves and pass the myth onto generations of students that they are "the mother of Ohio Governors." Reality: exactly two Ohio Governors--the last of whom left office in 1909--graduated from Fredo.

I can never remember which one is Fredo and which one is Beavis. I'll assume that you're talking about Ohio U. And, no, I haven't met many Fredoites. Let's count them: my grandparents, a cousin, and an ex-coworker. Oh, my buddy married a chick who went to Ohio U. So 5. None of them comes close to anything I've read on whatever that forum is - Bobcatattack, or something. My grandparents never owned anything that said "Ohio" or anything like that, as far as I know. You wouldn't know they went to Ohio U unless you straight-out asked them. My cousin was in it for the partying, I'm sure. She wouldn't care less if 2 Ohio Governors or 20 or 0 went to Ohio U. The ex-coworker went to college in the '60's. I don't know if he went there to party - he didn't seem like a partier to me. He seemed proud of his school, but he never went on about it. He seemed to like Ohio State football, but he was more frustrated about it than anything. Finally, my buddy's wife - I think she told me once she went there, near the time I just met her. Otherwise, you wouldn't know she went there. Maybe she has a sweatshirt or something that has OHIO on it, or something, but she's not obnoxious about it.

Anyway, that should answer the one question. I think that fan base is easily dismissed. Easily ignored. Not that I couldn't ignore Penn State's fans. But it's like someone else posted about Ohio U: "They have an online forum? How cute."

I think Fredo is Miami, and Beavis is OU in this case? Maybe I am wrong.

POLL: Pennsylvanians Want Paterno Statue Back
  • HARRISBURG, Pa. - A poll says Pennsylvanians overwhelmingly want Penn State to put back a statue of former football coach Joe Paterno that was removed after Jerry Sandusky's child molestation conviction.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday said the majority - 59 percent to 25 percent - favored restoring the statue to a prominent place on campus.

Pennsylvanians also strongly support a recent deal between Penn State and the NCAA that restored 112 wins to the football team and Paterno's status as winningest coach in major college football.

Paterno's statue outside Beaver Stadium was removed in July 2012, shortly before the university and the NCAA entered into a consent decree that invalidated the wins, fined the school $60 million and temporarily took away some football scholarships.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,023 residents between Jan. 22 and Feb. 1. Its margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

The 25% opposed to the idea must've been the victims (or whatever you want to call them).
