Re: Why I'm not worried about Urban Meyer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At some point BOB will tire of Myer's antics, and he will physcially beat him up. Obie is a civilized, old school gentleman who understands the noble way to handle differences is by physcial confrontation. Once he lays a beatdown on Myer, Myer will either retire, or shape up. Either way, we win

:slappy:

I'm almost shocked he didn't say "sodomize" instead of "beat up"

I wonder how many "Why I'm not worried about Indiana" posts they have? Because, you know, why limit the endless discussion to just one thing that they aren't worried about. :roll2:

I also like that 2 months of recruiting was an insurmountable head start for Urban Meyer this year, but that will be gone next year (because 12 months is shorter than 2 months :tinfoil:) so Penn State will never be out-recruited by Meyer ever again.

And Meyer won't have to worry about bowl prep next year either....these retards seem to forget about that.

this nittany fan seems to have some brain cells working, though:

exercise in futility.

1. I don't care what Urban Meter does (same goes for Hoke, Biemela, D'Antonio, etc.)
2. Ohio State will be the class of our conference UNTIL someone knocks them off and wins the conference with their consistency
3. Finally....and most important, until we see Penn State win the Big 10/compete in BCS games WITH CONSISTENCY (not 3 titles in 20 years)you should worry less about the "other guy" (insert big ten team here) and worry more about what we're doing.

Urban is a punk. I'll take our guy in a head to head alley fight any day. And your right 2013 is a whole new ball game. Now it's time to go after those 2013 guys and get ready for some football.

I don't even know where to start with this nonsense...

Re: Why I'm not worried about Urban Meyer

A couple things will change going forward. First, The NCAA gave O$U the ability to have two, or extra, head coaches on staff in December. So, while Fickel was taking care of the bowl preparation like every other coach in the country, Urban was free to focus on recruiting. That was a very lucky break for them.

Second, while Urban was a bit late to the table, recruits had already made their visits. Being late got him the last visit and the last word to seal the deal. Take Cox, who eventually didn't select O$U. Urban even "rescheduled" Cox for his O$U visit until after Cox visited Penn State. Urban understands marketing and wanted his sales pitch fresh in the kids head.If he hadn't already stocked up on the position it might have worked.

Third, I would expect the nail that stands up to get hammered down. Hoke, Bielema, O'Brien, Dantonio, and the rest will collectively have the opportunity to counter Urban's silver tongue next year. Not necessarily collusion, but when a recruit hears a similar message from every other school about probation issues, playing time, etc. Urb's slick pitch will ring more hollow.

Lastly, Urban is selling these kids on NC runs, but even with great recruiting classes at Florida, Urban lost. Every time he won the NC, he still lost. On a week by week basis he wasn't much better than the other coaches. That's the part of the Urban myth people have forgotten and it will be much tougher to get to that NC from the Big Ten with a loss than it was from the SEC. A couple reality losses will check those dreams Urban's been selling.

It's all about working with what you have and focusing on hard work. That's what's made Penn State effective at building character and NFL draft picks in the past. I don't see that changing with O'Brien. If anything, O'Brien's experience with the Patriots and with the smaller college programs has prepared him for winning with preparation and character rather than relying on four and five star talent. We may have to win with Boise-like precision, but that makes knocking off the four and five stars so much fun.

I have no worries with O'Brien in recruiting . He seems to be tough guy enough for me
He's a "tough guy"! We're dooooooooooomed!

Re: Why I'm not worried about Urban Meyer

The only thing that really sticks out to me about OSU this year is not them getting Meyer, but PSU beating them 20-14 on their home turf. I expect scores like that to continue with B O'B as the new head coach.
It happened this year against the worst tOSU team in recent memeory, therefor it will happen from here on out. Brilliant.

By the same token...once a winner, always a winner?

How did going to the Redskins work out for Vince Lombardi?
That's right, he just compared 48 year old Urban to a guy in his mid-60s. In the NFL.

Or Jimmy Johnson at the Phins ? All it means they can be successful, not that they're guaranteed to be. Just as they're not guaranteed to be a failure.

Like it or not, Caesar (not Spanier, Julius) has crossed the Rubicon. There's no turing back now. BOB is the HC and only time can render the true verdict on his performance.
Ah, another NFL comparison. Eh, it's all the same.

I cannot believe these rubes. Please take your mutant gene pool to the ACC. [censored]ing subhuman, incestuous, monsters. :

Guess what, no post season next season means our coaching staff, including Fickell, will be out recruiting harder than this year, although I would expect Ped State's staff to be doing the same since a bowl game isn't likely for them either. I'll expect to hear the same excuses next year from these losers.

/I believe 99.99% that trolls have infiltrated those boards.

Mike & I are telling you the God's honest truth. These people are real, and they've been like this since long before Sandusky became a common name.

The best times on those boards are when they get slapped around by tOSU. The environment there after their losses to us from 2008-10 was epic. But, he past couple of months have raised the bar incredibly high. I always thought of them as just a bunch of inbred hicks that didn't have a clue what was going on outside of happy valley. Now I see them as a dangerous cult. They frighten me.
