He's been a pretty average player in the NFL aside from one pro-bowl season. Yes, he's usually among their leaders in tackles, but he hasn't been an "impact" kind of player. As a pro, he's mostly been "just a guy." Frankly, that's shocking to me, because he was such a beast in C-bus.

Point still being, tOSU hasn't been significantly better than them at putting contributing LBers in the pros over the last decade or so. And, aside from Shazier, our LB play has been really subpar for a few years now. Guys like Kwon and Darron Lee are starting to get things going back in the right direction now, though.

For the time being, I have a hard time arguing tOSU is any better than the pedtards in that regard.
Ok, let's add N' ail Diggs, Kaiser Wilhelm, Spielman, Couisaneau, Steve Tovar, Randy Gradishar all of whom had decent careers in the NFL. What can PSU throw out there over the same time frame? Puzfutski?

Hawk has been a steady starter at Green Bay...he has either led the team, or finished second, in tackles in six of his seven seasons there and made the Pro Bowl in 2010.

FWIW, I had a meeting with the then-CEO of Green Bay Hawk's first season, and asked him about Hawk. He said they thought he was going to be a strong player for them right off the bat, but seemed to feel that Hawk's contribution to the team dynamic was his real superstar quality. He makes the people around him better.

I respectfully disagree.

Clay Matthews gets all the accolades, because he gets the sacks and has pretty hair, but he's only able to blitz every other play because AJ Hawk can cover his own assignment plus cover Matthews' vacated area as well.

Hawk > Matthews, and it isn't close.

Edit: over the last 24 games, AJ had 178 combined tackles.

Clay has 200 FOR HIS ENTIRE CAREER.

AJ has 60 tackles this season.
Clay has 16(!)

Yeah I don't know how a guy can be a ten year starter for a playoff team and be considered "just a guy". Just because he may not be one of the two best at his position every year doesn't mean he isn't a damn good NFL LB. It's kinda like saying a team is average because they only won a single title in the last 12 years.

Question: If PSU moves to another conference such as the ACC, they will still need to register as a sex offender, correct?
