Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

It's funny to me that Ped State still regards themselves as "LBer U"

http://collegespun.com/national/which-school-is-the-real-linebacker-u-we-count-down-the-top-25/3

OSU is #1, Ped State not even in top 10.

Granted the voting is subjective (top 3 could be interchangeable), but it doesn't take a genius to know that Ped State hasn't had the same kind of success lately.
Well, frankly, neither have we. It's looking up right now, but our LB play hasn't been particularly stellar the last few years.

Everyone has down years. But in the last 10, we have had some exceptional LBers to play for S&G.

PSU has had a couple good LBers as well, but they have all been busts at the next level.
True, but what tOSU LBers are excelling? JL is having a nice career with the Rams. Too early to say about Shazier. PSU has put an All-Pro in NoVarro Bowman in the league. Honestly, I'd say it's a wash between us the past decade or so. It's a narrow gap either way...

I like this topic: the rumor is that a Penn State player once complained to an official about a non-call, and the official said something like, "you're just lucky to be playing football". So a guy asks BWI to confirm whether its a real story, or urban legend. 3-4 people reply that it's real, and their proof is that they tell their story. Some back it up with, "someone posted a link here once". The thing I like about it is that each has his own version of the story. It was Mauti (RIP) in one story, McGloin in another... Then the original poster says something like, "Thanks - I knew this story was true".

They are claiming it was the same back judge, and that he is secretly a pedophile who is angry with the way Joe/PSU treated Sandusky. I am not making this crap up.

So bad calls by the refs justify physical assault on the opposing team? Sadly, it looks like their defective logic is contagious, because I don't give a flying fig what happens to these people, their school, or their team.

When Reynolds pulled the deranged crap he did in the Wisconsin game, I not only thought he should never put on an OSU uniform again, but I was actually glad they lost the game. I couldn't find a way to take pride in a victory after such a humiliating display by someone on our team. These bozos, on the other hand, are unapologetically celebrating a vicious attack by their player. Not my kind of folks.

I've been hearing some whining from Penn State fans about the leaping penalty at the end of the first overtime. Sounds like they think it isn't a penalty, or is never called.

A defender at least one yard in front of the line of scrimmage running forward and leaping in an attempt to block a field goal or a point-after try lands on other players on either team. The penalty is not called if the defender was within one yard of the line of scrimmage at the time of the snap.

Maybe it isn't a penalty in high school. But it is a penalty in NFL and college. I don't know when it became a penalty, but I've always thought it was a penalty.
I don't know how much it is called - I've seen it called, though. Whether it happens all the time and isn't called, I don't know..

It's a safety issue for players. They started flagging it all the time a few years ago.

Their players are incapable of doing anything wrong. They are all the pure and pristine examples of Success With Honor teachings from Joesus. They are superheroes who can't be injured in normal play but only taken down through the malicious cheap shots of the opposition. They are Rhodes Scholars in the classroom and Eagle Scouts off the field. Every one was a Validictorian with a 1500 SAT score.

The cult lives in a shallow, black-and-white fantasy, Pleasantville world that most people gave up before graduating from high school if they ever believed it existed in the first place.
