Penn State at tOSU, Sat. 10/21, 12pm EST, FOX

Our concerns about the O-Line will be put to the test this week. Last week 3 drives were killed by pass pro issues: a holding penalty, a strip sack (with the score 34-0, WTF?), and another sack/grounding (I’m still not sure what they called cause it took forever + Peacock!)

Manny Diaz will bring the heat, and keep bringing it. Incompletions are OK, turnovers obviously are not.

The advanced stat sites say the same thing the normal stats do, that is Penn State's defense this year is on par with Notre Dame's in that top 10 or better kind of tier. It gets dicey to win a game if the opponent can keep Day's offense under 30, let alone under 25.

If you look at them as Notre Dame with a better offense, and and equally poor in game coach, then I feel like we probably will find a way to win (or better yet they will find a way to fuck it up) but it's very likely going to be a knuckle buster.

Neither JD nor CFB nerds picked the Buckeyes in their predictions. Will be interesting if Pate sticks with what he's been going with this season or if he'll feel differently.

Obviously, punditry matters FA to the outcome, but interesting nonetheless.

Personally, I wish I felt better about this game, but it's been helpful this year as I just listen to Keels instead of watching, because I don't ride the emotional roller coaster of a game nearly as much.

One thing I am holding out hope for is an increase in sacks. We have 10 sacks in 6 games. My hope is the next 6 games produces 20 more sacks. Has to be an uptick at some point in this area. No freaking way we finish with 20 sacks in the regular season.

Dallan Hayden carries:

1 yard
17 yards
8 yards
3 yards (first down carry)
14 yards
19 yards
1 yard
1 yard (touchdown)
3 yards
8 yards
1 yard

One could argue that out of his 11 carries he only had 3 that sucked (at least they weren’t negative).

Penn state has a 4.6 per carry. Ohio state has a 4.3. If you take away sack yards lost, Ohio State goes up to 5.08 yard per carry. If you take away sack yardage from penn st it goes up to 4.64.

Really got to hone in on making sure yards lost are at a minimum this game.

I hope this JTT shows up Saturday.

We will need an effort like this from one of our defensive playmakers Saturday. I think our scheme leaves us as at disadvantage. If 7 players play perfect on a play but one two or three don’t it’s a First down or TD. It will take a JTT or Tyleik or someone to have the game of their life to win. Offense is similar Treyveon Marvin or Hayden need to go nuclear.

I agree. When you get into these type of games you have to have most of your units grade out on the positive side. Michigan the last two years…we have units and players that have played at their worst.
