Penn State at tOSU, Sat. 10/21, 12pm EST, FOX

Is it possible that James Franklin, Manny Diaz, and Mike Yurcich have created a undefeated and 7th ranked Penn State team that’s capable of winning the Big Ten and competing for a national championship? It’s possible. It’s also possible that I have a fire breathing, 2 headed flying dragon captured and caged up in my garage.

Look, anything can happen in the Penn State game but usually it ends with the Buckeyes winning, regardless of how ugly a game it was. Penn State’s strength of schedule is almost as bad as Michigan’s. I expect Penn State to put up a fight but ultimately they’ll make too many mistakes, either on the field or on the sideline.

Allar is captain checkdown so far. Will Knowles bring pressure and dare him to throw deep? Burke being healthy will be huuuge
Agreed, if Burke is out I am really concerned honestly...best and likely most important player on the defense imo. Davison and Hancock have been playing well though. so hopefully we have an answer if we are out. I wouldn't mind seeing Mathews out there if Burke can't play, even though he is a frosh he has been lights out and has the talent/confidence to play at this level.

On offense, I am definitely concerned...PSU's front 7 is legit and Diaz is a very good DC. Our OL is likely going to get exploited quite a bit. In the passing game, McCord will need the ball out of his hands quickly and there has to be very little slow developing pass plays. I would say we have to run the ball, but it is going to be difficult if our run blocking looks like it has all year. Honestly I would play Hayden a ton, he is our most effective RB.

On defense, we need to pressure Allar early and often. They have two great RBs that they will likely lean on and we need to limit them, that will be a challenge for sure but our front 7 can get it done if we buckle down. I expect to see Styles up near the line often in this one.

I expect a fairly low scoring and close game. My early prediction would be 24-17 Ohio State.

Not entirely certain how PSU is a 5.5 pt dog. I won't bet rather than bet against the Buckeyes. Hope that Day has got a few tricks up his sleeve, because we're gonna need them. Do we have the horses, yes. Have they all come out to play, not yet. Anyone got a feel for PSU injuries? Know we've got a few, and lordy, thanks for Dallan. He's still got a couple of games of eligibility left, so that gives PSU something else (inc Brown) to prep for. Go Buckeyes!

agreed. I am liking the fact that PSU wr's (so far) arent anything special. Plus they have JF at coach so expect some dumb decisions. should be perfect fall weather, jacked up crowd, huge recruiting weekend so the recipe is there for a blowout if they take advantage.

Pfft. PSU wide receivers are always special against OSU. They pull off some of the stupidest, most ridiculous catches against OSU every single year. It doesn't matter who the WR or DB, get ready for some crazy nonsense out of one of their WRs.

irrrrr you just triggered some major PTSD but unfortunately you are correct. fuckers

Allar is talented. But he is a different QB away from Happy Valley.

At home he is 56-82 68% with 8 TDs
On the road 34-66 51.5% with 1 TD.

And for the record, the away teams he played were Northwestern and Illinois. So not exactly the big boys of the conference.

Interesting stats! The crowd should be loud and proud against the Kitty Kat lions. Stop the run game and we should be good.

First time on your board, great comments by everyone. Looking fwd to a great and safe game.
Welcome! Fans from other schools who come here for good discussion are more than welcome. We have some people from other schools who have become quality long time posters here. Trolls however are not suffered lightly. One question that must be asked up front however, and this is for our friends from La. Do you put tomatoes in gumbo or not?
