Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs #4 tOSU, Sat 12/31 8 ET on ESPN

It’s so strange to me…

I think we’re going to get embarrassed.

I think all of our ugly tendencies show their heads yet again.

I think all of the Ryan Day hate will be justified.

I won’t want Ryan Day to be forced out or leave for an NFL job…..I cant really make it make sense, but it’s where I’m at.

I still think he will be a great coach once CFP goes 12 teams I guess is my biggest justification.

I've thought all the same stuff but that last part I keep coming back to this: currently The Game is what defines our season/what success is measured by. If that changes to the CFP, why is he all of a sudden going to be able to pass his big test then when he can't do it now? Just getting in isn't going to be enough. He's going to have to win those big games and if you have that nasty habit of reaching up and choking yourself when things get tense, I don't think you automatically overcome that because the opponent has a different helmet.

I honestly hope he shows that it is indeed some kind of winged helmet mental block and he lays waste to the CFP but I think the odds are extremely long.

I’d like to think Day has seen the light on mobile QB’s based on trouble we’ve had in the losing end of games, especially against a pretty limited JJ McCarthy who isn’t very good but we made look like a Heisman trophy winner with a slightly above 50% completion percentage.

I think we will actually see some change starting next season…..the degree of change depends on who wins the job but I think there will be a philosophy shift.

And as much as I respect CJ…..it is what it is….he has no interest taking hits.

Crazy bingo card call…..but would t be shocked if we saw Devin Brown get a few zone read snaps with a potential throw mixed in depending on situation. Just a wild ass guess…..think it’d be a solid look that would be pretty unexpected. That’s the type of look you can implement when you have 4 weeks to gameplan.

Very fair assessment.

Im a broken record and recognize maybe I’m just trying to rationalize the ass kickings…..but I really want to see how this Michigan strategy works beyond the free Covid year players. They’re crushing the transfer portal and maintaining such a seasoned roster it’s hard to compare apples and oranges IMO.

Again, maybe I’m an idiot. But I don’t think I’m that far off…..I think Michigans current success has a shelf life that really begins in 2024-2025.

I agree with you on tsun but that's a separate topic from Day being The Guy imo.

He still had the better team this year, he was inches away from opening a can on them in the first half that they could not have come back from...but he spit the bit. Worse yet, he spit the bit in a way we've seen before.

So I don't see these last two years as an ascension of tsun/Harbaugh. I see them as a repudiation of Day.

If Day hasn't tried anything new or different or novel up to this point - eg pulling out all the stops to beat TTUN - he's not about to trot out new wrinkles now.

Stubbornness tends to work that way. Same way as delusion.

I am expecting to see the same team take the field. There's no reason to think that Day has suddenly experienced a Christmas miracle and will field a different team using a different philosophy. He's even come out and said that they're "in a good place right now"... no reason to change what's not broken.

This game will come down to how Kirby Smart and Gerogia execute.

I think Smart, Muschamp, and Georgia will execute - they seem to do that better than anybody - but do they have the patience that Michigan had? It seems to go against their nature. They want to disrupt, they want to create havoc, they want to be aggressive. Michigan basically did the opposite and Ohio State crumbled. UGA’s aggressiveness on defense is, strangely, the one thing that keeps my hope alive because I think we can exploit that.

Then we’re screwed bc Kirby Smart is the best gameday coach in the business right now, IMO.

JJ, Corum, Edwards, Mazi Smith were not in the portal.
Neither were Dax, Hutch, Ojabo, Ruiz.

Toss out Ojabo, and all of them were top-100 (or close) guys, and most were OSU targets.

They'll be fine next year, but after that, when JJ, Corum, Edwards, Mazi are all gone?

They have Johnson and next to nothing. This year's class has four top-200 guys (not top-100). Can they keep OSU at bay imitating WIsconsin? I have my doubts.

No exactly. I think these two teams are more evenly matched then all of us think. Basically a dead heat on 5 stars and also projected 1st rounders.

Will we lose? Likely. Will we lose big? Maybe.

Can we win? Absolutely we can.

Everyone talks up UGA. Particularly their defense.

But that defense has faced 1 good offense in Tennessee (spare me the Oregon stuff) which was in Athens in the rain. They faced I think 2 top 30 offenses meanwhile Ohio State on offense has played 5 or 6 defenses already in the top 30. IMO we've seen good defense and UGA will not be this juggernaut that we don't know how to handle.

The main question is how our defense holds up who's #11 in the country (ahead of UGA btw) but has played some dreadful teams. The three times we faced anyone with a pulse we gave up 30 or more. If the defense can force a few turnovers and get off the field for a few more I really like our chances.

I believe Ryan when he says they'll need to score 40 to win. I believe we'll be aggressive on offense and that'll be a welcomed change. I also know that we defend the RB/TE throw game well and that their leading WR might not play.

I think this defense actually is embarrassed for their last 2 outtings, I believe Knowles when he says they added things this bowl prep, and I think our defense has the kind of guys to actually play inspired (unlike our offense).

Overall, I'm glad we have this opportunity. It's fun having a game mean something like this instead of another Rose Bowl. I am at peace with that we probably aren't winning this game but I'm cautiously optimistic that if our defense can force a few turnovers that we can pull the upset.

Clemson 2020 and Utah show he has some Dog in him.

But TSUN and 2019 Clemson shows he puckers at times as well. I just hope he follows his own advice from the 2nd life. Play loose and call it loose like like you did Utah. If they come back keep swinging go for 4th at mid field and let it all hang out if you lose you lose. But don't play and call it so tight you make mistakes and let it snowball on you.

I see this "go for it at mid field" a lot. I think it's important to only do that late if we absolutely have to. If we do that the first drive of the game that'd be terrible to have that fail. That's a quick route to 35-10 at the half.

True what I mean is like the TSUN game down 10 in the 2nd half 4 and 5 or less at the oppenants 45 go for it
