Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs #4 tOSU, Sat 12/31 8 ET on ESPN

You can look at this another way:

Stover could have been insisting he was going out there no matter how hurt, had his family's blessing and it would be a nod to the toughness instilled by the S&C staff as well as his belief in the brotherhood culture.

The part of the staff that's headed to Tulsa could then need to shoulder the load for having, on the surface, a TE room so incapable that Stover felt he had to play hurt and the coaches thought that 65% Stover was better than anyone else at 100%. Outside of Stover and Rossi, the rest of the TE room has been non existent as far as I saw. Don't even get me started on Ge Scott Jr. His pass catching is nowhere near elite enough to offset his inability/unwillingness to block. That fucking headbutt in The Game could very well be a career ender for him at OSU.

The recent offer to the transfer TE could be read as an admission that they know the TE room isn't where they want it to be (and that they aren't real shook up about Wilson's departure?)

No inside knowledge obviously. Just an alternate theory about what we might be seeing with the TE room.
There's no question that the roster is depleted at a lot of positions, like @sparcboxbuck said in the Stover thread. It's not just a thing at the tight end position.

But at some point, when the coaches see the condition that the players are in and that they are causing more harm (to themselves) than good to the team I would think they would pull up a bit.

I didn't think it's completely up to the players whether they get to play when they have injuries. If that was the case, and under your logic, I would have guessed that JSN would have been out there playing, much more.

Honest question tho, is it normal to get about 4 days before these 1st round games and be absolutely sick of waiting? Last year I could feel the beatdown coming, so I was happy to just live in the moment - but at this point I've read every Peach Bowl, and Orange Bowl preview on the internet and I'm just about ready to watch the darn games.

Is this what being spoiled feels like? :)

It's all dependent on if he's going to the trainers or not to a certain extent as well. I do get the feeling Stover is the type to hide injuries because he knows if he goes to the trainers, he will get taken out.

Sure, some players hide injuries. But, in this case, are the coaches blind?
Isn't this where the anger toward players like JSN comes from - ie clearly some players are *clearly* playing hurt (Stover, Henderson, Hall) and struggling (mightily), while others seem to get held back?

No. You're just having trouble pretending like y'all have been there before. Like at least more than once in a half-century.

So, wait, you're saying losing to South Carolina in the Outback Bowl was not big time football? Because I was lead to believe it was big time football... there was an SEC team there and everything; doesn't that "just mean more?"

:)

Only 4 more days... much better than 4 weeks I'd imagine at least.

I go back to the point that maybe the coaches know the back up TE's aren't good enough to help no matter how bad off Stover is whereas the WR room depth might be a completely different situation. Also we have no idea of the actual injuries and each guy is different so we are really getting way off into hypothetical land here.

One thing I do know for sure that will lay at the feet of the coaches is knowing that Stover isn't 100%, why in the ever fucking love of humanity do you dial up so many critical plays for him?

That one I cannot forgive or find any possible scenario to explain outside of incompetence.

That's where I have an issue.

There's no need to play Henderson or JSN vs Toledo. Yet we do and both sustain injuries that basically set them back all year.

Good point. Maybe Cade on 4th and 3 isn't the best option if he's beat up.
