Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs #4 tOSU, Sat 12/31 8 ET on ESPN

Yeah I can get OSU at +215 right now. That's implied odds of ~32%.

I have always said that Vegas has a wonderfully efficient method to cut through all the bullshit and let people demonstrate how much they really believe in something. Put money on it.

I don't bet on Buckeye games, or TTUN games for that matter. Stick to games where I don't really give a shit who wins.

Which, to me, goes back to the overall culture of the program not a Zach Smith thing. Meyer demanded a certain element of physical toughness from all players and position groups that I don't know is still there.

I think of Day as out of the Bill Walsh mold - inventive, sophisticated, FAST. I loved those 49er teams, but like the current Bucks, there was a thought that they weren't tough.

When I think of Big Ten football I think more of Bo, Woody, and Barry Alvarez teams. Urbs seemed to bring both systems together, an offense that wanted to outsmart you, out run you, and a defense that wanted to grind and smother you. Can we say his teams were schizophrenic?

2022 CFP: First look at Georgia-Ohio State, Michigan-TCU

No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 4 Ohio State
CFP Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl
When: Saturday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
How to watch: ESPN and ESPN App
Opening line via Caesars Sportsbook: Georgia by 6.5

How Ohio State wins:
The defense needs to limit big plays. It has done a good job of limiting explosive plays all season but showed some weaknesses against the Wolverines, who were able to score multiple long touchdowns through the air and on the ground. The offense has proved that it can put points on the board, but now the defense has to meet the challenge of playing a top-notch offense and have its best game yet.

Oh, and FUCK MICHIGAN:

How TCU wins: The Frogs have employed a mix of thunder and lightning to keep opponents on the ropes, particularly in the second half. TCU had 17 plays of at least 50 yards this season, second only to Tennessee in the FBS. Duggan ranks third nationally in completion percentage on passes of 20 or more yards downfield at a 54.7% clip with 12 touchdowns on such plays, tops in the country. And Miller rushed for more than 1,000 yards between the tackles and is tough to bring down, ranking third in the Big 12 with 650 yards after contact. If the Frogs can remain patient and pound away with Miller, they'll be able to open up the field for their playmakers and a roster loaded with speed.

I'd wager we see the same thing as we did vs scUM. Have some early success running inside, but then "adjust" to purely running slow developing outside zone runs after so often for whatever reason. It's like Day thinks that early success running inside = dividends later when it comes to running those outside runs.
It might be the lack of at least two healthy running backs all season long. You can't pound without healthy backs... unless you're Michigan against the Bucks.

Buckeye fans, remember 2002, when a Clarett led run game got some yardage, but was essentially stymied. Craig Krenzel, a decent arm, but pretty much feet in concrete, started to run. He took some hits that Superman would have had trouble getting up from, but he bounced to his feet and sprinted to the huddle. Younger memories may contradict me, but seem to recollect that Craig was top ground gainer for the Buckeyes (?). Over a supper freshman, Maurice Clarett, who was essentially playing his last football game in scarlet & gray. Anyway, threw the Miami D off, as nowhere had they schemed to stop him......here's hoping that history repeats itself 20 years later. PS, his runs caused Miami to tighten up, bring a safety up some, and opened up a passing game. Well, CJ is a better runner, Myian is in the same zipcode as Clarett, and tOSU's WRs are leaps and bounds better. Miami put what, 8 defensive players into the NFL from that team? Believe we have a punchers chance. Hopefully our D plays up to the 2002 level. Maybe not so many defense players will be drafted as in yesteryear, but that too is in the same zip code...Go Bucks!
The Bucks put quite a few from that class in the NFL too. That team was tougher than people thought.
Will Smith, Wilhelm, Clemons, Gamble, Olivia, Doss, Nugget, come to mind, there were others.
