Pat Fitzgerald (HC Northwestern Wildcats, Forever)

I enjoy watching him on the sidelines more than any other coach in CFB today. (I can think of some who motivate me in the opposite direction -- Steve Spurrier, Charlie Weiss, Nick Saban and more) His love for his players, his school and the game is so apparent. He's positive with his team, encouraging and pushing them and they seem to pay it back. Nice to see the school is recognizing and valuing what they have.

Re: Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald: "We had a very short and brief discussion as a coaching staff that, No. 1, we're excited about our team, we're focused on our team, and in no way, shape, or form are we going to pursue, contact, or reach out to Penn State University. And that's our situation, and that's how we've moved forward with it."

However, USC players are a different story:

Northwestern received some good news on Tuesday when the NCAA announced that wide receiver Kyle Prater, who transferred from USC earlier this year, will be eligible to compete for the Wildcats when the 2012 season opens on Sept. 1.

Let it be known that Fitzgerald is a hypocritical douchebag.

You guys could be right, it isn't exactly the same thing. I thought he was just poaching a player (i.e. Prater) from a school that was on NCAA probation. Needless to say, this wasn't in the CBS article:

The USC transfer will suit up for Northwestern this fall after the NCAA on Tuesday approved his waiver request. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound receiver from Proviso West had been in limbo since announcing six months ago that he would return home. Prater appealed to the NCAA based on wanting to be near an ill relative he has not publicly identified.

"My family is very important to me," Prater said in a news release, "so it means a lot for them to be nearby while I play football and earn my degree at Northwestern."
