Packers (ex-NW'ern) RB Tyrell Sutton (official thread)

I have seen him play and know this much...The kid can play no matter what his 40 time is. He will not go down on first contact. He outran a Wisky DB for a TD...hE PULLED AWAY.

hATE TO SAY IT BUT THIS KIDS A hEISMAN CANDIDATE NEXT YEAR.

He leads the nation in scoring and is second in rushing as a true freshmen. His team is in a BCS conference. He will be a Heisman candidate next year.

Heck with that. In all fairness, if he's putting up numbers like that THIS year, then he should be considered for the heisman THIS year. You'll be sure he won't get a vote though until he puts up numbers against us and PSU this year... and I don't see either of those happening... though he might put up better numbers that Lawrence Malroney against both.

To win the heisman, your team must be halfway successful...

I was very impressed with Sutton. He may put up Heisman numbers next year, and he may be mentioned in Heisman candidate conversations, but he doesn't have a prayer at winning. Like 77 said, you have to win games to win the Heisman, and my money's on NW being worse next year.

Yeah, I agree. Sutton obviously has better numbers than Wells, but let's not all sit around and wish he was a Buckeye.

Something just doesn't feel right about that. I'll take Wells.

Ohio is a prime recruiting state for tons of top schools. The kid acts like he was sleighted, but the truth is he would have gone to michigan had he been given offers to UM and OSU.

I can only imagine the "what ifs" if Maurice Wells were playing for Northwestern, and we passed on the Parade All-American described by recruiting guru Conley as the best RB prospect he's ever seen.

I can also imagine the enormous criticism if OSU had brought in Wells and Sutton, with absolutely nobody to handle the power runs in the future. We got wells (who was Petey's #1 target at RB), and then went after Gwaltney (a premiere big back), who deceived us into thinking we would land him.

You can't take everybody.

Has he turned out to be a stud? Sure, he looks tough.

People here seem to be forgetting that he failed to show up against Mich and OSU. His numbers against us weren't that bad, but you can't cough it up like that when your team is ailing.

I followed Suttons career in very fine detail... he's from my high school... but I must admit, even I am very surprised by his immense success... I applaud his success because this truly is one fine kid...

I put him and Taz in the stratosphere of fine people with gifted talent and immeasurable hearts... fellas a parent can be immensely proud to call their son... he deserves everything he gets... and I wish him all the best
