Packers (ex-NW'ern) RB Tyrell Sutton (official thread)

with the year pittman had this year, i wouldnt expect to see sutton getting many more carries/having a big impact this year for OSU. he definitely landed in the best situation for him.

While Sutton may have landed in the best situation for him, I'm certain he would have had a larger impact the MoWells this year at OSU. (Although I seriously doubt he would have gone to tOSU had UM also offered - he smelled scUMmy to me...)

Would have been interesting to see him in a tandem w/ Pittman, but alas. Bring on Chris Wells - a big-time Ohio RB talent that wants nothing more than to be a Buckeye!

IMO you can't compare him to Mo Wells... they are different RBs..
He is much more like Pittman in many ways... which is why OSU didn't pursue...
and you won't be able to compare him to Chris Wells... because again, completely different type of backs...

He excels in the spread offense... he'll continue to get physically stronger with the college training... and by jr and sr year... he'll be a demon...

Maybe I'm still a little peeved by his one-touch performance against meatchicken that jeapordized the outcome of The Game. I really hope he turns his ship around and comes back with a vengeance next year on November 18th.

Go Bucks!

I don't think Sutton even sees the field this year if at OSU...
redshirts -- almost no doubt...
Wells plays because he is a change of pace and different style than Pittman...

Sutton is where he should be... everything fell in place for him to have the year he has had...

We burned redshirts on Haw and MoWells. Given our running situation in 03 & 04, I think we would have given any back on the roster a shot at it this year. In fact, we did.

I agree though that Sutton is where he should be. I honestly agree that he's done better for himself at NU, and since he never got an offer from tOSU in the first place, how could anyone from Ohio be anything but happy for him?

I sure hope we don't have to have the same exact discussion everytime sutton's thread pops up. I am just passing along more info on this Ohioan's blooming career, especially b/c he was a longshot to make an impact like this.

Maurice Wells had serious ties to columbus and liked OSU. Pete Carroll didn't look at Sutton, he and every other DI coach coveted wells. We also wanted a big back, so we went after Gwaltney.

I seriously doubt they would have tried to bring in 3 rbs last year. Nobody in their right mind would have offered sutton, who liked UM better, and committed WAY before the recruiting heated up. Had he wanted to become a buckeye, he wouldn't have verbaled so early.

Congratulate the kid on his success. I love watching small kids prove the world wrong about measurables. OSU did not make a mistake. As pointed out, this kid was 3rd on the NW depth chart. We got the parade all-american.

As for the poster who is judging wells by his fumble, Pittman did the exact same thing a few times. In both cases, they were undersized and it cost them fumbles. Notice how much better Pittman's ball security has been this year, and he is not exactly huge. Give Wells 10 lbs this season and then reevaluate.

Not that it matters but we did not burn a redshirt on Haw. He redshirted last year.

Oh, that definitely gets dinged. That's a good boy??
it was a joke, and he didn't seem to get to upset by it. (if I was wrong tim, sorry, I shoulda included a smiley I guess). grad, did this not ring a bell that I was kidding around??? "in all seriousness tho" (followed by a statement stating I was also glad Wells didn't return).
