Would have to assume its because he is a similiar runner to M.Wells, they had M.Wells ranked as the better back so he got the offer. I think they wanted to save their other scholies for a big back.

Edit: To give this theory more proof, they didn't even offer Ringer prior to the injury. Sure you could say it was grades, but i don't think so.

I don't have any insider access to answer the question, but I've got a hunch it has a lot to do with the courtship of Maurice Wells.

Just think how good Maurice must be for JT to pass on Tyrell Sutton. Scary good, is my guess. Time and change will surely show.

Perhaps this was addressed in an earlier thread but why didn't OSU aggressively recruit Tyrell Sutton... size? character? the Bam Childress "saga"?
He was probably seen as a Pittman clone... He wasn't the speed back they wanted (Wells) and he wasn't the bruiser back they wanted (Gwaltney)... He would have jumped on an offer to OSU...

As far as his character... IMO close to flawless... and a great student... He'll do well at Northwestern...

This kid is a class act, and definitely deserves to have some picture highlights from the North South game on his thread (inspired by listening to the big 33 game):

On a warm Saturday afternoon in front of a half-filled stadium at Ryan Field, Northwestern may also have found their running back for the future.

With Terrell Jordan out with a hamstring injury and after Saturday's starter Brandon Roberson hurt his ankle in the first quarter, freshman Tyrell Sutton - Mr. Football in Ohio in 2004 - took over.

He gained 104 yards on 17 carries with a pair of TD runs, including a 20-yarder late in the third quarter that made it 38-7. He also had a 17-yard scoring run to wrap up an 88-yard drive in the second quarter that put the Wildcats ahead 17-0.

Watching the game, Tyrell looked like he was still at Hoban. He had a nice run down the sideline where he ran over a DB. The two TDs were great runs as well. The first real test will be in 2 weeks at Arizona State and then the following week when PSU goes to Evanston.

The NIU game should be a fun one to watch next week also.
