Not necessarily specific to Simmons, but it's an interesting offshoot of the NIL era. Weighing guaranteed money against loftier draft prospects.

Even more interesting when some guys have had a few years to bank NIL money and don’t need the NFL payday the way they used to.Not necessarily specific to Simmons, but it's an interesting offshoot of the NIL era. Weighing guaranteed money against loftier draft prospects.
He really doesn’t. He’s injured, and won’t be able to compete in the combine to show any of his talents. He can come back to OSU and get $1.5-2mil or take a chance on the NFL and possibly drop mainly due to his injury.Jimmy's got all the leverage in this negotiation.
I’d pay Simmons because last year he wasn’t great but this year until the injury he was. It took him two years to get the system down. If he recovers he’s a proven commodity.I’m not against paying him. I’m just concerned that he’s going to struggle returning from the injury. He’s a big guy and his weight could be an issue and hamper him.
Are you better off trying to use that money for a the NW tackle or another transfer?
Yep, tough decisions…
Well there's definitely that and I laughed. But if there is any and I mean any chance to get Simmons back IF (caps intended) he's healthy, go all in. The OL could look seriously brutal otherwise. They need to head for Costco to get the quantity they need to unfuck the OL.
You would have a better idea than me but what 2 starters and a depth guy at tackles? Maybe one more IOL starter quality type?Well there's definitely that and I laughed. But if there is any and I mean any chance to get Simmons back IF (caps intended) he's healthy, go all in. The OL could look seriously brutal otherwise.
But still be pushing the cart that requires a CDL at Costco regardless.
$6239.You would have a better idea than me but what 2 starters and a depth guy at tackles? Maybe one more IOL starter quality type?
I was at a Cincinnati CBB game today and talking to my buddy about that. We were talking about some former Bearcat players who were at the school for several years and barely did anything, but they still hit the Portal for other teams. And they’re pretty much utilizing the Portal to stay in college and gain a check rather than going over seas since most won’t make the NBA. We’ll see that even more in CFB with the teams being bigger.Even more interesting when some guys have had a few years to bank NIL money and don’t need the NFL payday the way they used to.
Complicated question. We don't have an answer other than Montgomery at RT. Then zero depth. This is the exact problem that we recruitniks were concerned about. We need to focus on OT, love Lowe but he's not a Day 1 guy even if he's not far off.You would have a better idea than me but what 2 starters and a depth guy at tackles? Maybe one more IOL starter quality type?
Well if we don’t address the OL in a big way then seriously just start preparing yourself for a 3+ loss season next year during the regular season.Well there's definitely that and I laughed. But if there is any and I mean any chance to get Simmons back IF (caps intended) he's healthy, go all in. The OL could look seriously brutal otherwise.

You aren’t asking me obviously but the way I’m thinking about it is who’s coming back that we KNOW is really good. You would have a better idea than me but what 2 starters and a depth guy at tackles? Maybe one more IOL starter quality type?
Moore has to make the next step without a doubt and I think he should be ready to if he puts the work in. Key word is "think" to your point, but I think he is a RT fit. Montgomery for sure has to become the player that we thought we had coming in and he showed signs of becoming that guy and again to your point though, we don't know yet.You aren’t asking me obviously but the way I’m thinking about it is who’s coming back that we KNOW is really good.
I think Hinzman is starters quality but then who else really? sure 65 and 77 have started but are they strong returning starters? I don’t really think so.
You have to hope someone like Ian Moore takes a step and maybe Montgomery or the Armstrongs too.
I think we need 2 tackles and 1 interior that can start.
