OT Ethan Onianwa (Official Thread)

Have heard it said, that if you trade a pound of fat for a pound of muscle, you gain 9 pounds. Not certain whether true (doesn't seem so in my case), but Coach Mick should be able to shape that kid up by August. And let him have some revenge on Texas (as one who had his keister kicked by them), while in the scarlet & gray. Josh Pate said he was listed as 345, but might have come in a bit heavier. Hope he is the plug-and-play LT that we were hoping for. Go Bucks!
I heard he came in at 357 lbs. He has a lot of work to do.

Betting that Coach Mick cuts off his cheeseburgers and nachos.....puts him on a protein shake and rabbit food diet. Just kidding, have no idea what sort of diet works for these guys. But probably him using more calories (in work-out room) than he ingests might do the trick. Anyway, Hopefully we'll get a Simmons part #2, and he'll show the same skillset that he did at Rice. Plus, the DL he'll be working against is most likely far better than he faced at Rice. Go Bucks

Ethan Onianwa will be the key to another Ohio State football championship run

Onianwa is the best option for them to use at left tackle. He's 6'6 and 357 pounds, so he's certainly got the size to man the blind side of a new quarterback, which is why he's such a key player. The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback who has never started a game before.

Having someone who can protect a new QB is vital to the success of this team. Onianwa has to keep Julian Sayin upright, especially early in the season, as he tries to gain some confidence. Sayin is a great talent, but even those with great talent don't play well when they are constantly pressured.

If Onianwa is able to play well, the Buckeyes feel great about their chances to run it back and win a national championship. Despite all of the talent they lost, they still have plenty of that on this year's roster, too.
