NDChief... know wrestling?? Didn't we (Illinois) just crush you guys in the IL/IND h.s. dual 2 weeks ago:wink2:. Howe's match verse Polz was great, I thought Polz would win it, but Howe is tougher then I was giving him credit.

LOL!! Howe is a beast !!! I can not understand why so many of Indiana's stud wrestlers decided not to wrestle in that event. One one the coaches
even had to ask a kid off of high school team to fill in for one match.

Now unlike a few others who paricipated in this thread the "wrestler" can got toe to toe with me on the subject of wrestling. Did you go to that match or watch it on the internet??

Thanks for the video's, I already watched the Howe one but not the Consgrove video. Cosgrove was very close to being a 3 time state champ
but he lost to the same kid in the finals his Soph. and Junior years.

Next year you may get to see current 3 time state champ Josh Harper (hopefully next year he makes it 4) from 2008 team state champ Mishawaka.

Kevin Schlosser/the-ozone.netOhio State junior J. Jaggers, right, suffers torn ankle ligaments during his 141-pound NCAA championship match with Cal Poly junior Chad Mendes on Saturday in St. Louis. After an injury timeout, Jaggers finished the match and won, 5-2.

His left ankle caught between the biceps and body of No. 1-ranked Chad Mendes of Cal Poly, Ohio State junior J. Jaggers could feel the ligaments in his ankle tear.
The referee spotted the dangerous situation and stopped the NCAA championship wrestling match at 141 pounds, but the damage had been done. Given 90 seconds of injury time, by rule, to recover, the Northfield native and four-time Ohio high school state champion from St. Peter Chanel had to compose himself or lose, and his coach told the Buckeyes' trainer to wrap tape from Jaggers' ankle to his shoe.
Jaggers, ahead, 5-1, and 16 seconds away from a national title, said no.
"Let it go. I won't even feel it."

NDCheif: To show you how good Cosgrove is now, he made it to the final 4 of the senior nationals before injury defaulting to a kid who Ramo's beat at the Iron Man. Ramos made the finals on the other side of the bracket.

I still can't beleive Cosgrove majored Ramos.

I heard that.... anyone looking at the kid on the street would think he was a basketball player and not a wrestling stud. He is so laid back that he was dancing on the mat while warming up for his state title match. Like I said he was very close to being a Indiana 3 time champ.

When is/was Senior Nationals ?? I am looking forward to seeing how Andrew Howes does.

It is in Virginia Beach this Thurs-Tonight, for whatever reason some kids didn't enter, including Howe.

First of all I was screaming at the TV cheering the OSU guys on but actually IMO Fox was the one who really dictated the match. IMO the reason JD pushed Fox around was to keep him in tight so he could not go after that single.

Understand your side. But I believe, it was not Fox "personally" that dictated the match, but just the presence of his "blast single leg" that dictated the match. I still JD "wrestled" more throughout the match. but alas thats what a great wrestler does, Fox has such a powerful move that other wrestlers have to leave their comfort zone just to prevent Fox's takedown. JD just got caught in a bad situation and Fox had the presence of mind to know when to reach and hit his move. Fox got it and game match set.

That's what I meant...Fox's threat of that single leg.

JD was smart by doing that but IMO he also hurt his own offense because I just did not see him trying any type of a throw against a guy like Fox.

Hill who took 6th place at heavyweight is commited to ohio st next year. Odd that they only had one guy in this considering they are bringing in the number 5 recruiting class in the nation.

I hadn't read your post above mine but I never saw Fox dictating the match until the 3rd period. JD forced the action the first 2 periods and Fox stayed near the edge of the circle as a safety net imo. JD slimmed down a bit to move better because that was his best shot at beating Fox but I wish he could have finished a shot...I really think the single was open. Fox does have a slick single but I think JD was just trying to force action and open up a shot...in any event, it is anyones call because wrestling is one of the most controversial sport to try and make calls on. They were both great wrestlers and congrats to Fox anyways, as I saw him win it all when he was at Galion.

I agree with that but I think he got so caught up in fighting position towards the edge and being the aggressor, that he was blind to wide open shots. As I said in the previous post, Bergman slimmed down for this match and I don't think he was looking for throws but then again, he seemed to forget that he still had to score. It looked as if Fox was shocked the first 2 periods and I thought JD should have stuck with the gameplan. It happens though...I sometimes would be so concerned with setting the tone by fighting position towards the edge that I sometimes would miss some opportunities to score.

Michael Arace commentary: Buckeyes go for broke on the mat (see J Jaggers)

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Once you've wrestled, Dan Gable once said, everything else in life is easy. But most of us have not experienced extreme limits of physical endurance and mental stress, not on a mat, and so even the mundane seems difficult. We have no point of reference.
Here's a point of reference: With 16 seconds remaining in the final match in the 141-pound weight class at the NCAA wrestling championships, J Jaggers had his left ankle stuck in the armpit of Chad Mendes, and Mendes was twisting -- "torquing" as they say. This was two weeks ago.
