I agree that Lauderdale is unlikely to bolt for the pros after this season, but in no way is he "too short" to play inside in the League. His athleticism and wingspan (not to mention his demeanor) all spell success in the NBA IMO. Reminds me of other undersized power guys like Ben Wallace and Paul Millsap. Too, he still has time to develop the outside game that guys like Barkley and Malone had (though I'm not saying Dallas has anything like that kind of potential).

I agree that Dallas could play at the next level, but also think he will be a 3 or 4 year man at tOSU... if you don't think he can make a roster, check out Ronny Turiaf the next time Golden State is televised nationally...

Dallas will be here for all 4 years. He needs that time to refine his game. Turiaf was an all-conference player at Gonzaga and played for the French national team so he had quite a bit of experience before he was drafted. Let's not judge Dallas too soon because he might not getting the same amount of playing time as the season progresses.

Dallas is a 4 year player...He could have the same improvment from this year to next as he has had this off season and he will still be back for a 4th year...Not that he won't play in the NBA, just he is a 4 year player, due to lack of height and lack of an all around offensive game...

Heh, we all saw Lauderdale yoke on the Miami wannabe. Those little secret flashes of NBA talent can only stay quiet for so long. Four years is not a lock. Anybody watching Dallas right now is probably impressed with his defense, rebounding and athletic ability around the rim. I suspect an NBA franchise would be looking at his potential to be an impact player in those areas more than the 'all around' offensive game. And if there is any indication from these early games ,he improves fast. I could easily see Lauderdale in projections after his junior year if he were to have a very good season.

A different PG in that 2010 class popped up as having some recent interest from TM and company. So maybe they are entertaining the idea of a more "pure PG" in the class now after all. With 5 commits and Payne as a "must have", I am surprised but maybe they now know more underclassmen will be going pro by then or something.

I think this might be a better place for this type of discussion. While Howard is still listed with an "Official Offer", I do not think that the staff is considering him any longer for 2010. There are some rumors that they are looking at a another guard from Illinois for 2010 but that is strictly long stretch rumor. While you call Payne the "must have" recruit for 2010 there is still a backup for him that has recently entered the picture. In order for us to take 6 players in 2010, I believe that two of our current players would have to declare early.

The rumor I heard was not about a state of IL G recruit.

I think that MINIMALLY, BJM and Turner are gone by 2010 so that gives us 6 to use. I'd guess they are gone after this season, actually, unless they get injured.

But it would not surprise me AT ALL if Buford is also a pro by then. Also, I can't remember the last time this squad has gone 2 years without a xfer or defection, and that has been with far fewer than 13 on the roster. I have no idea who, but it would not surprise me if someone gets tired of riding the bench between now and the 2010 signing date.

I certainly hope the 6th in the class is Payne. Beyond that I'm not sure if they should go after a PG or not. Some want to wait on Teague in 2011. Others think Smith or Offutt will be good enough backups to Crater anyway. I guess it might depend some on who xfers by then. But names are popping up both inside ( plan Bs to Payne I guess ) and also one PG. Seems the staff isn't set at 5-6 after all.

I believe that the Bucks were in on some pretty big names early, but because of the numbers they were not sure how many schollies that they would have, when none of the big names said yes soon (most were from a ways away as apparently there are not many high major kids in Ohio or Indiana this year) and with the possibliity of losing a scholly to a low APR (the early departures the last few years have hurt that) it appears that the staff has decided to concentrate on 2010. I am sure that as things shake out, early departures, any possible transfers, that the staff will keep their eyes open, but it looks like they'll stand pat this year.

Zisis is the transfer from UAB...he will be eligible to play next year so you could consider him an 09 recruit...

I don't see more than 6 in the 2010 class...11 and 12 are loaded classes, unless they don't feel that Smith or Offut can back up at the Point after Simmons leaves and Crater is the only one or for some unseen reason they see Crater ducking out because of pt or something crazy...

I read an article that said BJ Mullens is one and done, due to family issues. What will be done with his scholarship if he goes pro after this year? Also, if bufford and turner go pro, where do they find the players to fill these scholarships? Isn't the 09 recruiting pool weak, so no one to offer? Do they go the juco players again?
